I'm starting to look for a cheap car. It can be a bit more expensive then $500, but no matter what, in the end I'd have to be under $500 total investment so it'd have to be something of worth that I can sell certain pieces off of.

A group of friends and I are gonna do the 24 Hours of LeMons. http://www.24hoursoflemons.com/

We have awhile to start looking into this, but wanted to put the feelers out there now.

Gonna be a fun time

Chris

For that amount a decent SHO Taurus could easily be had and give everyone a serious run for their money. I think there are a couple people on the SHO forum entering this same race.....

Yep, SHOs are a rather popular choice for that race. I believe a few have even won. (:

I looked into doing that with some friends, better pick a unique car to even get into the race from the looks of it. Then figure spending at least another 2k for the cage, brakes, tires. All to have the chance to get it smashed half way through the race, haha.

As soon as the snow's done I'll have a 2001 Pontiac Sunfire for I bought it for $500 and would sell it much lower.
It's got 205,000mi on it and a head gasket leak, blown struts and it was in an accident prior to my owning it.
I've only spent money on new tires and the front brake pads and rotors that I haven't put on yet.
PM me if it's what your looking for.

Get it a bit lower, use the extra cash to buy a drivetrain.

A guy on one of my other forums is putting a SHO drivetrain in a Geo for the Le Mons.

This thing gets interesting, make sure you don't use something too nice otherwise they'll get suspicious and you'll get voted to get the smashy smashy.

Yep, that's the one! hahaha.

We'll be fine to get into the race. If a bunch of random SHO's can get in, I'm sure we'll be fine.

Money's not an issue. We've already budgeted about $4000 for everything, including travel, fuel, bullshit stuff that comes up.

Just sucks for the car stuff. We have most of the stuff as is(battery relocation kit, sealed battery box, harnesses, seats, battery cutoff, etc...)

so it's just the cage, and luckily we know a guy for that ;)

My saturn would be up for sale in a while. i think all it would need is a Input shaft seal its leaking pretty bad. burns some oil i'de sell it for $500 as is got two sets of wheels and tires could run the snows for some added traction. 5sp manual leather seats and missing a headliner already.

does it have to be a car or can you run a small pickup?
