Looking for a hoist. Think I need to go 4 post drive on style as I dont know how thick or strong my garage concrete is. Looked at new ones, but for my price range I'd have to go 'offshore' and I dont want a car over my head on a hoist that might not hold the weight. Anyone know of anything?

So if you don't know anything about the concrete what makes you think a 4 post will be safe? Might want to look into that first. Maybe drill a hole somewhere first and at least see how thick the slab is.

concrete thickness is not so much an issue with a 4 post as the weight is greatly spread around. You arent suporting the hoist and the car weight on two points.

I understand that, but i'm sure there are still some specs you want to follow. Just looking out for your safety.

appreciate that. most of the four posts have no minimum requirements for foundation, also many of them are even moveable from spot to spot.

Your car is on 4 tires, so whats the difference of that of 4 point hoist?

What kind of power does this one need to work? 220?

My 4 post is not bolted to the floor, in fact I have a wheel kit for it and could roll it right down the driveway.

Short lift is 440/3 phase, a converter will easily make the switch over. Turbo garrett has done this already with a lift i sold him

I have 2 different ceiling heights in my garage. On one side of the garage I used storage trusses where the height is about 10 feet, this side I Have the 4 post lift. The other side of the garage has off-set trusses where the height is 14’ 3”, on this side I have a 2 post lift. I will see if I can find some pics.

You have to have the lift shipped to a local freight company and pick it up with your trailer and it looks like this:

And this is what it looks like when completed:
