Mountaineer trans ?

yesterday was the 3rd time in about 4 months that my OT light on the dash started to blink...I take it to my buddies shop and the code reads 1-2 shift everytime....whats up with this...????????...new trans...what???

You mean the OD light? The wires that run to the OD button might be frayed or damaged. Check that first.

i feel your pain ,my mountaineer did that for a few months untill it wouldn't shift at all. i ended up putting a remand trans from ete reman in it. From what ive been told the valve bodys in those things are junk and cause overheating from slippage. Mine was a 04 with 58000 miles when it went. it started out as a harsh engagment from park to reverse and reverse to drive. The company i bought from uses a upgraded valve body during the rebuild, it cost 1100 and came with 3yr 100,000 mile warranty parts and labor. Ps . i tried sticking a new vb in but by the time the light came on it was already toast.

well the SUV..aka QUEER has 162k on it...don't know if 1100.00 repair is worth it...been looking at AVIATORS....but i do like the Mountaineer..this is the only problem i have had big with it....she is in good shape ...only rust is in the dog legs by rear door....will have that taken care of...maybe see who i know that has a trans laying around...thanks guys.....wayne
