lots of people forget where a lot of companies came from, now operating in or from china. I picked up this Westinghouse Fan today at an estate sale, works great and in AWESOME condition. I have a similar one to this already but it is in much worse shape. What kinda cool stuff have you guys sitting around the house that is too neat to pass on?

i have a silver enscribed braclet my grandma gave to my grandpa, on valentines day in 1953. theres an enscription (inside) on it, saying so, and my grandpa's (and my) name enscribed in the front.

its no box fan, but i might be worth something as well. not that i would ever trade it in etc. but its the oldest thing i own.
(aside from a HAND STAMPED coin i cannot find, my dads friend gave me, the coin had a picture of a man riding a horse, but when you flipped the picture over, it was a lady, then, on the other side it was an eagle, i believe.)

mid 80's photocard from Slinger signed by Alan Kuwicki.... if I could only find that and frame it.

But that fan is pretty sweet. Like you said, works better than anything else

Coin op tetris arcade game

My dad's former best friend used to have a bunch of old arcade games like that. Pac Man, Galega(sp), Space Invaders, and a bunch of other crazy ones that are probably worth a little bit of coin now.

I have a ton of old shit, especially tools. I have a 1947 International Cub Standard and a 1962 International Cub Cadet. I have a 1964 snowblower that's a rebadge monkey wards that I use here.

I've found that "they don't make 'em like they used to" to be true about most things. I try to pick up old crap because it seems to last. I'll take my 40 year old rusty Made in USA Irwin taps & dies, vise-grips, et cetera over all their Made in China junk they peddle today. I send companies their broken shit back all the time with a picture of the old stuff I used in its place.

I love old shit. I have some antique furniture. I have an antique oil lamp that was converted to electric. I have a WWII "trench art" lamp made from different size shell casings. Waaaayyy back in the day hardware stores sold nails by the pound, I have a bin they used to have the nails in below a hanging scale. It's never been used. The lower level is 4'x4' with five compartments, the top is 2'x2' with 4 compartments.

It's like AR15's. I don't get them. They are cold, soulless and utilitarian. I love my M16, but I can't imagine shooting it for pleasure or carrying it in the woods. I don't care how cold it is, the birds eye maple cheekpiece of a hand built, sporterized 6.5x55 Sweedish Mauser can warm my soul and kill my game.

i turn em up every once in a while for good ol times. :headbang

Wont be worth shit but I have the newspaper from January 1st, 2000 put away with a numbered certificate for Hannah. Was San Diego's news company.

Also have a paper from 9/11 and 9/13 which is a 10 page section on what details happened with really, really graphic images.

Some day they will be old items for her to own

I've got every Roger Clemens baseball card from 1985-1995. I used to be a HUGE Clemens fan. I also, somewhere, have a Milwaukee Braves card from 1951.

I have a bunch of old Racing Champions (like Hot Wheels) cars too, unfortunately somewhere along the line the packaging got wet :(

I have the journal from 1991 from when we went to war (desert storm). along with the papers I also have the advertisment the journal used. The large USA IN WAR sings and what not. I worked for the journal back then and knew they would be neat to have in the furure. I can't think what they would be worth now 20 years later.

Funny thing is I remember the night we started to bomb Iraq/Kuwait like it was yesterday.

I see some of the cool shit people have thru life and watch shows like pawn stars. Its a real pain in the ass to put something up and keep it nice through the years to have something for your kids to look back on only to have the fuckers sell it. Maybe they are supposed to sell it? Dunno but if my grandpa put something back for me I would feel like shit selling it

I agree. When I see stupid people sell something that their grand parents held on for 80 years, only to have their family sell it for a dirt bike after they die pisses me off. Those people are true fags in life. :fire

This is one of my favorite possessions. I'm the dude drinkin the beer. The shirt I have on was my grandfathers from when he worked at the old Mobil Fill'n station. that was on State street. It's no longer there.

The shirt is sweet because for one it was my grandfathers (who has the same name. I'm the third), it has my name on it, and is about 50+ years old roughly. It's perfectly "worn" and vintage looking. You can't go buy something like that.

just because it meant alot to my grandparents or whoever doesn't mean it means shit to me.
one persons "treasure" is junk to other people and so on.. who cares. if i get something handed down that they kept forever and to me i don't like it or have no use for it then why keep it? just to sit and take up space and collect dust? better believe i will sell that shit.:headbang

Agreed. My dad gave me this old ring that he says was his grandfathers (IDK if I buy that, it don't look old.) I've never seen him wear it. It's ugly and doesn't fit. I'll prolly keep it till he kicks, but then I'll prolly sell it. I think he's just kinda jealous because I've worn one of my moms rings since she passed away.

If someone can take enjoyment over some old thing I have that I have zero use for, I'd rather sell it or give it away. I'm just not sentimental about shit. I'm just not wired that way. Material possessions are nothing more then that.
