I've only completed one project so far this semester (6 weeks into it, pretty sad), but I've been working like crazy on this rendering. I am flabbergasted with how it turned out. I really had no idea I was capable of using PhotoShop and Illustrator to this extreme. The first file is the rendering and the second file is the line work I used to create the basic areas of color followed by a lot of shading.

The only thing that would trump it would be a design incorporating the unique ducati frame work. Thats cool though, im a Duc fan!

Very well done. I'm still learning to do renders in PS and Ill.

Did you use the gradient mesh tool in Illustrator?

This is a render I did using that tool.

Your wine glass looks damn good! I did not use the gradient mesh, I only used Illustrator for the paths and colored everything in PhotoShop with my tablet.

The drive itself costs way too much for its size... its over $100 for 4GB even though it is supposed to be extremely fast with load times.

What kind of tablet are you using? Wacom I assume? Size?

I have the small Wacom but I don't use it very often. I usually draw out the path, then ctrl click and then color in with a brush. Is that basically the same process you use?

Oh and the benefit of renders in illustrator using the gradient mesh is that it's a vector image. So I can make that glass any size. I'm sure you are aware of that.

Yeah, the TA that teaches the class thinks its better to render in PhotoShop (I also disagree) so I'm kind of stuck. I have the Wacom Intuos 4 small. I draw all my paths in Illustrator, and the right click and "make selection" and the paint the areas accordingly with a brush. I end up modifying selections a lot to get borders and such. It's a pain, but I can do it my own way after I'm out of this class.

Yep that's how I do renders in PS as well. I actually prefer using PS but know how to use the Gradient Mesh tool is a good tool to have since it's such a complex tool.

I finished up another rendering today for the first part of the next project. We had to do some kind of hand held device. I did my TV remote figuring the design was boring enough and I would be able to change it up for the second part of the assignment where we have to redesign the device.
