State Senate Approves New Gun Case Rules

MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- Some hunters wouldn't have to worry about putting their guns in cases while they're driving under a bill approved in the Wisconsin Senate.
The bill approved Tuesday on a voice vote would allow unloaded firearms that are 26 inches or longer to be transported in vehicles. Bows and cross bows also wouldn't have to be in cases as long as they are not armed with an arrow or a bolt under the bill.
Under current law, firearms must be transported in closed cases and bows and cross bows must either be in cases or unstrung.
Lobbying records show the National Rifle Association and other groups representing hunters are supporting the bill, which makes other technical changes for group deer hunting.

They should have used the time to pass CCW.

I don't care if I have to put my unloaded gun in a case or not, it's not like I'm gonna put it in my back window so someone can rip it off

With all the controversy over open carry, CCW and DNR leadership, you got to wonder where this came from. At least the road hunters will be happy.

Only if the barrel of you AR is 26" barrel a lot of them have 16-20" barrels.

The firearm has to be 26" not the barrel. 26" is the minimum legal rifle/shotgun length without being a SBR or SBS

Oh my bad I misread the tmj4 article. I thought it said barrel.
