For you ford guys working at a dealer/ or know about trannys.

Turned 60k miles on my 04 explorer with the v8. ( TSB for the ring and pinion in the rear end replaced at 50k miles)

I am wondering if I should get my tranny fluid changed. I owned it since new and havent towed much more then 2 four wheelers. It shifts fine and I have no complaints.

Ford added a 'additive' to the fluid at like 15k miles to help with the "harsh shifts into reverse/drive".

So what should I do? Leave it or get the fluid changed out?

Thanks
Jake

fluid should be fine but , you cant just drain and add fluid to those 5r55 tranys, there a sealed unit with out a dipstick, you have to pump it back in thru the plug in the pan.
