These are mil-spec lowers... meaning they will accept different fire contol groups, the stock and the grip come off just as it would off of an aluminum lower.

This is a complete lower, it comes as you see it in the pics. The fire control group is also made of the same reinforced polymer as the lower itself.

.223 or 5.56?

Whatever upper you buy, here is a short list:

.17 Remington
.204 Ruger
.222 Remington
.223 Remington
5.56 Nato
6mm X 45
7.62 X 39
6.5 Grendel
6.8 Rem. SPC
6mm PPC
Im missing several.

After buying my S&W AR-15/22 and holding the receiver in hand next to another alum lower (guess who I bought it from!) I can say Im confident these polymer lowers should handle any "AR-15" cartridge out there, cant call the stuff plasic anymore. Im gonna test one with a 6.8 Remington SPC for deer next winter myself.

When you look at potential uppers make sure you look only at AR15 uppers, not AR10 uppers (larger family based of the 308, Mr Stoners original design for the AR).

Russ Jerome
02-23-2010, 06:15 PM
Oh and there are uppers available that will fire both the 5.56 and the 223 out of the same barrel, there are trade offs when you decide.

223 high end ammo (hornady) for sniping prairie dogs and 5.56 for spraying cheap ammo (very dirty ammo at that) for fun or home defence.

I think my delton lower is getting this:

http://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/2009/01/26/at-14-the-410-ar-15-shotgun/

Thanks Brian for telling me about it, ahha

have you guys tried out the delton website? or even do a search for J&T website(a bit more expensive though)

you can pretty much design your own upper with whatever options you want.

I think I want to look for a 9mm version for this lower

those are the rifle kits that you can pick and choose what you want, and because the lower is complete, you can get rid of some of the options like the trigger and stock to save even more money.

Coops Brother

www.model1sales.com has lots of stuff, they can be shipped to your door. I don't get a discount thru them, but I do thru Delton.

ATI makes a complete upper, chambered in .410, price is around $440+tax.

http://akpartskits.com/cart/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=6_17&products_id=504 check those out for a dedicated .22 upper, pretty decent price.

You can't get rid of the stock in the options, only the trigger, which only saves you $30... so you end up paying $30 more and having an extra stock.

Crawlin
02-24-2010, 10:47 AM
that's only if you want the regular options like your link has. i understand what you are saying, but i was assuming that most people wouldn't want the regular stock and would prefer to have one of the various collapsible, as well as a different pistol grib then regular, as well as the freefloat handguards instead of the plastic pieces, etc...

i misspoke :)

There is'nt going to be a huge weight difference, an aluminum lower weighs nothing bye itself normaly. Your paying less for machining savings and we want to be less likely to be picked up by the metal detector...I mean it wont feel cold to the touch when hunting....I mean its the green way to go not melting alloy. Go green, buy plastic.

My Smith and Wesson AR-15/22 is polymer lower, weighs under 6# with clip/ammo and upper ready to fire.

Coop, the shotgun upper was a POS?

that sucks, I was really hoping it was gonna workout!

In a nutshell, it sucked. It would sometimes feed the second shell, but most of the time the bolt would slam into the shell hull and just about bend it in half. The recoil wasn't anything spectacular, FYI.

I guess I didn't even think about the fact that the shells have rim, and the rims won't stck on top of the lower one, they are always froward of the bottom shell, makes for fu<ked up feeding issues.

The lower functioned as expected, I ran 20 rds. .223 through my upper, no problems! The fit between the DPMS upper and the Plumcrazy lower was tight, I like tight!:thumbsup

Going for breakfast now, and then heading to the Expo Center, be there 10am or so.

Out.

Russ Jerome

Depends on the make and manufacture, there are pencil 223 barrels under 3/4" and target 223 barrels over and inch thick.

I'm in the mood for a good story.

Some well meaning but un informed escaped mental patient from a local hospital saw several of us at a table LEGALY buying/selling firearms with our FFL licenced dealer at a LEGAL gun show and felt we were jeprodizing the 2nd amendment of others by LEGALY going about our buisness....he was nutz.

Im not sure if I was so shocked by his off base coment or the fact I was surounded by a lot of gun owners I kept from my usual responce of "Shut up dumbass" or "who the F are you?"....my only comment I recal was "cant fix stupid" to wich several of us agreed to and kept our mouths shut :)

I put my S&W 5.56 upper on it yesterday and ran it through it's paces. The lower performed flawlessly, and fit great!! I even bump fired it emptying a 30 round magazine in a couple seconds with no problems. The composite hammer and trigger group concerned me at first, but not anymore!! Brian let me know when the second purchase comes around, I may take one or two more!!

Thanks for the deal Brian & nice meeting you and Mike.

Remington owns Bushmaster and DPMS now, that is why they are doing a .450 bushmaster round. I have also turned some standard 30 rnd ar mags into 10 rnd .450 mags.

I know that, but he was giving Brian shit too because of the one whiner.

I wouldn't normally laugh at a guy on a cart(cause I know I'll be one in my later years)

It was simply because of the guy giving shit to us.

I guess I left to early and missed out on this display of intelligence.
What the hell was the beef?

what's needed for that? any feeding issues? i've been told to look for the sig 556mags as they seem to work as well

You would need to buy the bushie follower for it. I just used a bs 30 rnd mag that came with my DPMS.

Are these still available & if so how much. Anyone had one for a while & can give an update on the durability?
