stew, there was some big topics about the wheelie bar vs. no wheelie bar thing.

alot of the classes these guys run do NOT allow wheelie bars. so that's how the cars are set up. Just tossing them on there and letting all the power hit isn't any better sometimes than not having them on.

plus the guys take pride in doing it WITHOUT them, even at the expense of a possible parts breakage when it slams down.

Well I flew home this morning, Ron texted me Jim went 4.99 and lost 1 round. We will get them next time Jim.


I will say this I have never seen so much bad ass shit in 1 place, The place was PACKED no room to park sold out of t shirts the first day. Everyone and I mean Everyone was a Class Act.

The winning car I talked to Dave Wolfe in the staging lanes and looked at the car, Ford Mustang with a 532 cubic in Chevy, stock susp (No coil overs in the rear) on a 315 radial tire, and he went 4.44 @176 That's just bad ass.


And the 275 class in the 4.90's on a 275 Drag Radial

All I can say is I cant wait till next year and

A "HUGE" thanks to my crew- Ron, Cory, Chip, Jim, Jimmy, Scotty, Dom, Greg, Manthong Mark, Bill, Dale and anyone who helped... I couldn't have done it without you people!!:thumbsup
We all didn't know what to expect, and leading up to it we all thought we had a shot. You have to stay positive or it isn't worth going in the first place.
I "REALLY" turned up the blower for this and made it hell on Ron and Chip- it was equal to having a whole new combo with no starting point. Cory got the car down to 3405 with me in it and it really seemed to help so far with not having transmission problems-then again Ron took away so much on the hit and could only ramp in a small amount of power we have yet to know the longevity on the trans. I am keeping high hopes.
The first test hit the tires went up immediately-not even a chance! This was with a 'Grove tune-up with more taken away. I told you I turned it up!!
Second hit is history-the car just went for the sky and I haven't had that happen in a long time. This is what happens when you take too much power out of it and don't have the front end travel limited. I'm sure it will make some video footage. It came down hard(twice 'cause I got into it again and it went on the bumper-again) and we didn't know something was wrong affecting boost until after the next pass. In the 5.0 pass you can hear the car surge-that was a "lean" surge. Once we got that figured out and I went 4.99, we looked at the data and saw it lost big time boost. I knew something happened because in testing I would blow the tires off, then slowly roll into it and the damn car would want to just stand up-such an incredible feeling but it don't win races! The 4.99 felt OK but not where it should have been. I love Wisconsin but figure the guys who won it were from fair weather states where testing time is all the time. BTW Kurgan took 2nd in his class, did a great job.
We learned ALOT this last weekend. All the time and money spent is nothing compared to what we learned and how it can be applied to our cars AND our customer cars. I'm damn proud we qualified #51 out of over 80 cars and we had NO test time and an abundance of problems-remember these are the baddest cars in America bar none! I can't wait to get the thing ironed out and go back to the ORTC events. We love the National competitions and will continue to race at these.
