I had a 1998. I ran the hell out of it from 20k and it had 148k on it when I traded it in. I upgraded the pulley initially and thats all I did for modifications. Only thing I ever had to repair on it was the water pump and 1 wheel bearing.
The sensor that senses when the brake is applied allowing you to take it out of park and into gear went. I never fixed it but there is an over ride button next to the shifter that I used once the sensor went. If I remember correctly when that sensor goes it also doesnt allow the key to fully turn back to the position that allows you to take the key out of the ignition. There is an override button under the column for that too.

I know that sounds like alot but it really isnt. Very durable cars in my opinion.

The 04's and up are less pieces of shit than the previous years as far as built and interior quality. They can be had for pretty damn cheap too.

My 04 went 14.4 with just an intake and PCM.

over 150 on mine, just be aware the intake gaskets on pre 04 should be replaced with the aluminum ones. Other than that they are great cars.

they're also smaller, handle worse, and are slower.... my 99 went 14.5 stock....
