I have been looking around on CL and the interwebz:goof at ex-cop Crown Vic's and even some Impalas. But I like the Crown Vic, so basically I am just wondering what are the pros and cons of these cars. What usually goes bad with these cars? Anything I should watch out for when buying an ex-cop car?

Basically any information would help, and maybe even some forums or something.

I REALLY like the Crown Vics ! I guess it's because they are so durable , easy to find parts for , roomy and get decent mileage......I might be selling my 99 CVPI , it's a factory black 99 that was a Madison Crime Lab car , looking to get around 2500 for it .....

I love my vic too. i get awesome gas mileage, and with snow tires, my car goes through deep snow almost as good as a 4wd.

i loved my vic but sold it so we could get a yukon xl (baby and dog fit better). biggest thing to expect is sparkplugs being spit out of the heads, jim kilpatrick fixed a few on my car for me and did so very reasonably. super durable and reliable otherwise.

got mine there and they are great to work with but a long drive though.

i lowered mine and slapped some 20"s on it...loked awesome imo.

A lot of cities around the state sell their retired squads through www.wisconsinsurplus.com. There's an auction going on now with some squads. They also have some of their past auctions listed so you can see what cars so for in the past.

I will pretty much 2nd and 3rd what everyone here said. 2004 is probably the best of the best right now. Highest HP and no electronic throttle. 03+ also got the upgraded frame/suspension. My car between the snow tires and factory traction control is rock solid in snow. I don't think I have ever put any extra weight in the trunk over the rear wheels.

Same here...I have no extra weight in the trunk and the traction is great.

For everyone that has a Crown Vic, does it get annoying when everyone slows down around you?

I love the look of those cars.

Well, since I made all the modifications to mine, I don't have nearly the trouble as I did when I first bought the car. It can get slightly annoying. It does tend to be much worse if your driving an old interceptor especially if it has spotlights and push bumper :rolf
