Back in Sept 2008, when my 6G74 swap was finished (3000GTs/Stealths have a 6G72 stock from factory), I had Dynojet numbers showing 600awhp/631awtq on pure Pump Gas. After approximately 500 miles/11 months later (Sept 2009) I decided to dyno again on the SAME model/chassis Dynojet and verify/check the dyno numbers. Unfortunately, we were never able to replicate those numbers - or get anywhere close. With the same tune/boost, all we could manage was around 515awhp. Quite frustrating and perplexing...

We ended up tearing things down and found several issues, some minor, some major, which I would rather not get into right now. Over the last 3 months, time was spent fixing these problems and also making a few improvement tweaks as well.

After some short delays on my part, the car was back together again and I finally have the results I was originally hoping to obtain 2 years ago when I decided to do this 6G74 project.

These results could be improved upon, but I had zero urge to "push" the tune or get aggressive.

Pure pump gas (19psi) - 591awhp/569awtq
Notes: Full boost at 3500 rpms, peek tq at 4300 rpms

Pump gas + 50/50 meth/water injection (21psi) - 634awhp/612awtq
Notes: Full boost at 3700 rpms, peek tq at 4300 rpms

Race gas + 50/50 meth/water injection (24psi) - 688awhp/679awtq
Note: Full boost (spike to 27) at 3700 rpms, peek tq at 4100 rpms

Regardless of which tune (pump, pump+meth, race+meth), the power under the curve is incredible. I think we could have hit 700+ by getting a bit aggressive, but it's not worth the risk to me. The E16g turbos are very close to being tapped out but they sure seem to fit this motor perfectly when it comes to useable power.

Extremely pleased with the car overall. I roadrace (Gingerman, Road America, etc.) at HPDE events and drag race occasionally. I might have also participated in a car show or two, heh ;) Tried Autocrossing once, but learned I sucked at it, ha.

I know people always want mod lists, but it's been awhile since I updated mine. The basics are:

Merkel Racing 3.5L 6G74
IPS E16Gs/Headers
AEM EMS
1000cc Injectors
Dual hotwired Walbros
Meth/Water Injection Kit
3SX Brian Crower 272 cams
IPS 4" single shot exhaust
Custom heads/porting/intake valves
LSE instake manifold/90mm TB
SS transfer case
MW 300m output shaft
PST 2-piece CFDS
K-Sport coilover suspension and tuned
Stoptech 332mm brake package
6 point custom cage
... and craploads of other stuff including maybe a few chromed things.

April's HPDE event at Road America is going to be a blast!! Dyno chart is below...

Beautiful car, nice numbers. With X-Wing finally putting his '94 back together, seeing you two go at it at RA this spring should be fun. :shades

hey, check it out, that is your car in the background :)

We had my brothers dsm tuned there and this is a picture i had and remembered seeing a stealth there and the older guy working on the motor when he wasnt helping luke with my brothers car.

but nice #'s and nice car.

cant say enough good things about beyond redline. Got 475awhp out of my brothers dsm and he even called back the next week to see how he liked the tune. his dsm is running e85, no head work, stock t/b and 2.5inch cat back exhuast and the typical stuff. Luke was straight foward on the tune and the set up we had on the car.

Good to see you post Jesse, especially with this info!! Great numbers, hope to catch the car and it's owner around this year, it's been awhile!

Thanks for the kind words, everyone...

Hitman,
Hopefully Xwing's Battleship Mitsubishi will be together for RA. If not, I'm sure his GTR will be there. I rather not end up racing either one of those cars, haha. Both cars have bested my fasted lap at RA. I'm hoping to improve my times with the new setup but, we'll see.

Stanman,
I hope to be around for some more events this coming year. We'll have to catch up.

Jake,
Hey, that's my car behind your brothers! I'll be picking it up soon. Beyond redline is just adding a few finishing touches. I'm ditching my EGT gauge in favor of an Oil Temp gauge. Thanks for the pick.

WhatsaDSM,
Yeah. The powerband is what's really amazing more than the peak numbers. 500awhp already at 4k RPMs. It sure is going to be fun!

cool, the picture worked.

so mind if i asking what is the story why it had to get gone over again? Seems like it is on track now to being finished.

Well, the previous problems had NOTHING to do with Beyond Redline. I brought the car to them, down about 15-20% of expected power. In a nutshell, without getting into too many boring details, I pretty much needed an entire rebuild, haha. Fun.

Jesse, good to see you on here has well! Again, great numbers, beautiful car, and I really dig that killer powerband!

That thing will be a HANDFUL on the street and the track!
