I think it's funny that every couple years people talk about how bad SNL is. But then 5 years later people think it used to be great and the current one is the worst one ever. Back when Spade, Farley, Sandler, Rock were all on the show ratings were terrible and people were saying how bad it is.

It's Saturday night, there's got to be something better to do then watching that.

I think the current cast is the best it's been in a long time. Tons of memorable skits and recurring characters/themes.
The Lonely Island songs are about as popular as anything they've had in the last 25yrs. Youtube has helped a lot, but so has the writing.

Was Farley really that funny? 90% of the time they'd just be using him for his fatness, by having him crash into shit, and flubber around.

Phil Hartman was great though, too bad his wife was a psycho nutjob and cut that short.
