Did you end up with another W-41? What do those have for motors again anywho? I remember them vaguely, don't see too many around. Stick too by chance? :)

Nope our new one is not a W-41 just a 4 door Achieva
The w-41 was a 190hp Quad4 with a 3.94 geared transaxle. Built for IMSA Showroom Stock racing.

The 97 we got isn't "offically" a quad 4 , it's the decendant, the 2.4 Twin cam

I like quads and never had problems with them. Except when I tried to play submarine commander and sucked water in the intake and hydro-locked it. Bent rods, pieces of piston skirt in the pan... not good.

I am going to look for another Quad4/5speed combo later in the year.
Either a Calais or an Achieva.

If you have good luck, more power to you. I've seen many a quad (2.3 AND 2.4) come through the shop and the usual problems are not pretty to work on. Just my opinion, not fact or anything. I can keep an eye out for cars or parts for you if you'd like. I've got a 2.3 sitting at the shop you can have if you want it. It got overheated pretty good, but it still ran.

W-41.... :burnout

They didnt make many of the Achieva SCXs at all. Finding one for sale is a chore in itself sometimes. Awhile back when I circle track raced Cavaliers, there was a fella running a Stick Quad 442, and needless to say my OHV 2.0 didnt stand a chance.

Quads are good motors, they just have special needs, and work quite well with that aside. Other than some oiling problems, and a very lackluster head compared to the 2.3, the 2.4 is a good motor too. I've done quite a bit to my 2.4, and if you have any questions feel free to give me a shout.

Good luck finding the elusive W-41, and when you do have fun! :rockwoot:
