Yeah not to far from me the big disaster of the Year!
The ski lift at Devils Head broke, all the lifts started going backwards fast (yes with people on them).
Centrifugal force at the turn points made the lifts swing out like amusement park rides striking the lift building and broke it apart.
If you snow board you know how hard it would be to jump off with a 25 to 30 foot drop.

The weird thing is the owner and managers first thing they did was kick all the news reporters out, and were more worried about people shooting video with cameras and cell phones then rescuing people!
We are now a You Tube Sensitive???
What??

I don't blame her. I feel the same way. I wonder if they would even be open this weekend after something like that. You would think they would be spending the time to check all of their equipment to make sure it's functioning properly.

Wow. Unbelievable. Lifts are kinda scary as it is ... none the less with this in the back of your mind now.

Wow. I wonder how old the lifts are. I normally ski at Cascade, I've only been to Devils Head once or twice, 8+ years ago.

man that used to be one of my fears as a kid whenever we went skiing up in vermont. those lifts were HUGE and LONG as phuck! I fell out of a lift once but I was only like 15' off teh ground just before the dismount area, I couldnt imagine hearing that wire snap and watching all the lifts drop in front of me.
