Anyone know if a 5.3l can be swapped in place of a 5.7 vortec?

I have a motor for sale and this guy needed it for his 99 Tahoe that popped the 5.7l motor but this motor is a 5.3l from an 03. can he use this motor?

he is going to need a wiring harness and a ecu for it and not sure if the plugs for the tranny are the same and i think the transmission bell housing is different because on f bodys you cant put a ls t56 behind a t56 i know there manual trans but the bell housing is the same as a auto.

i have a shortblock that could be freshened if he wants to do something nice for it.

You can put anything into anything. It is just how much work you want to do. We have a big block in a opel for instance.:D In this case it does not sound practical though
