That .357 had some damn kick, little more than I was expecting for sure.

Pretty sure that if Braden had shot that it would have been asses over elbows.

There was a Yugoslavian one at the Milwaukee gun show today for $150. If I hadn't just bought one at the Oshkosh show last weekend I woulda snagged it without a second though.

Damn, good to know. Mike's dad was saying he grabbed that SKS and a few others for $98 a pop, not sure how long ago that was though.

Musta been quite a while ago. It looks like a Norinco (Chinese). There were at least 4 or 5 Norinco's at todays show for $250+. It's hard to find any SKS for less than $200. The one I snagged last weekend I paid $165 and it's a numbers matching Yugo. I was very pleased with that price. My brother picked up a Mosin Nagant and Enfield today. Can't wait to shoot those. We're planning to hit a range when the family gets together sometime tween Christmas and New Years. He plans on bringing the two he got today as well as the Saiga AK that should arrive this week. I plan on bringing both my SKS's, an AR, .50 Desert Eagle, and a couple other small pistols.

Yep, this was the Chinese Norinco.

If anybody catches a deal on an SKS let me know where to find it.

I was busy drooling over my next rifle this afternoon. Barret M99, only complaint was the 29" barrell vs. the 32". After Uncle Sam gives me back my money in Feb. I'll be making that pruchase!! After that I want to start collecting a few wheel guns. I'd love to have a Raging Bull in .454 Casull, an S&W 44mag, and S&W 500. I'll have to give you a call when we come down there, I'd like to give that beast a try!!! My brothers going to ask The Shooters Shop if we can shoot the long guns in there when he picks up his AK.

M99 is actually affordable compared to the M82A1

Yup!! Plus, I have no realistic need for a semi auto .50 rifle with 10 round magazine. Not that I have a need for a .50 rifle anyway,I just have a weakness for the big guns.

Can't be too much recoil on that .357 mag. Looks to be around a 6" barrel....and it's an all steel frame. Should be a nice smooth return to a natural point of aim.
I love my Colt .357 Mark IV w/6" barrel. Go shoot a poly frame .40 or .45 with around a 4" barrel...lol.

Reading your quotes, yea, I bought those rifles many years ago, a friend of mine bought about 30 of them at one time. I bought 6 of them at 98 bucks each. And yes they were Norinco. A few years after I bought these the price jumped to over 175 each, dont know what they list at today.

I remember about 17 years ago or so my Dad bought his Yugo SKS for $100.... packed in wax in a wood crate and everything. If I'm remembering it right, he picked it up at fletchers.

I'd love to have a Raging Bull in .454 Casull

The love affair is bittersweet. When you fire it at the range, people gooseneck around their stalls to see WTF just made all that noise... and you smile. Then about 3 minutes later, after about 9-10 shots your carpals are crying just as loud (with the big manly hunting loads anyway).

I won't even mention firing that without ear protection. Two shots and I had ringing in my ears for 6 days.

I got mine in stainless for $500 at a gun show :deal. Definately a cool gun though, reasonably accurate, and a whole lot more "manly" than a cute little 357 :goof

I haven't had the chance to shoot one yet. I have shot the S&W 500. I rented it at the Shooters Shop but I think they had light loads because my hot loads I make for my Desert Eagle had more kick than the 500 revolver did and I know the 500 can kick like a mule. Like I said I love the big bores, I've typically put 60 rounds through the DE in an outing.

the casull is a awesome gun to shoot .454 that is

With the casull raging bull, it's not so much the big load wrenching force like a normal big bore revolver, it's that the underlug and magnum porting keep the barrel from coming up, instead it seems like the entire brunt of the kick is directed straight back into your palm compressing those carpal bones. :) After about 12-15 shots I swear I start getting tingly fingers like when you type too long with your wrists curled up.

.. And yeah a weak load in the 454 feels like a 9mm. For factory ammo I love the winchester partition gold 260gr. They're like 1800fps and make one hell of a loud boom. But then again you can get the +p+ corbons if that's your goal :) I'd be afraid of those in a ruger casull though. The nice thing about the raging bull is that it's only a 5 shot cylinder so you get alot more meat between the shells to take that pressure and the factory porting/underlug.

in fact anyone that would like to shoot a 335grain from my .45LC let me know,I think its as bad as the .454 and it has no fluting on a 3 inch barrel

I have, but the 300gr factory rounds I found weren't hot.. only like 1300fps.

I got some nice hot 300 gr jhp loads though that I loaded up :devil You're right, those are some ass kickers.

I've fired LC's out of the casull as well to save on range ammo.

My Dad has one chambered in 7mm-08. Rifle rounds being shot out of pistols FTW. They are pretty cool guns.
