I have a 98 Durango for sale that has a blown transmission, the paint is peeling on the hood, and the windshield is cracked. Today I had a guy offer me a 95 Prelude for an even trade. The prelude is stick, 2.2L vtec motor with 128,000 miles on it. It has some rust but not much and a small dent on the drivers side. No radio in it, but power everything. All it needs is 2 rear tires and rear ball joints which he has already purchased and is in the truck. From what I can tell from researching, this would be a good deal for me, although I am not looking for a car, but I think this would be easier to sell than the Durango. Just wondering what your guys' opinions are on the subject.

I'd be on that trade like flies on poo if those are the only issues. Make sure everything is legit with the Prelude's title and it matches the VIN tag on the dash, door, and firewall. Many people are only willing to trade a vehicle when there's something fishy going on. Not saying that's the case here but I've seen it more times than I can remember.....

That was kinda my thought, but the guy said he's owned it for 2 years and just needs something bigger for a childs seat. I planned on checking the vin/title to make sure they would match.

i would jump on it....4th gen 5spds w/vtec tend to be more desirable for buyers.

Hmmmm, the question is why would he trade a running/driving Prelude worth decent $$$ for a Durango that doesn’t currently drive.....

That's what I was kind of wondering, that's why I'm having the vin number run by Franklin Police. Sometimes it pays to know a cop. :)

I'm not the only person in the world who owns a 4th gen Prelude. And mine's not an Si, nor is it really blue. It used to be blue.. now the sun has made a one of a kind Honda Purple.

Is that a sh model with the H22? If so that would be a steal for you since your truck is worth maybe 1500-2000.

While it is the H22A1, the "sh" designation didn't show up until 5th generation Preludes. This would be an Si-Vtec

Assuming that it was the vtec by the decal on the side and the guy said it was the 2.2L not the 2.3L. And yes Brandon, it is definitely time to get rid of the Dingo. That truck has given me numerous problems over the 6 years I have owned it and the tranny going is something I just can't fathom spending more money on.

Ahh.. well if it's Non-vtec, it would be the same as mine. Type "S" with the F22a1. Still a good engine, mine just rolled 180k yesterday and it runs awesome. Check in front of the rear tire for bad rust, they like to develop a hole there.

$1,000 max, unless it's a LOT nicer than it sounds.....

I figured if I got $700 for the Durango I'd be happy cuz it is not nicer than you think. It has its rust, needs tires, tranny has no 2nd gear, has a cracked windshield, has a straightpipe for exhaust, and the leather inside is nowhere near perfect.

Lmao I junked my 2000 durango -and all it needed was front end work --ball joints ect--If I knew you needed a tranny I would of givin ya the truck

WOW!, A Dodge truck that didn't need transmission work, that's a tough find. Yeah, I just had the front end work done to this one like 9 months ago, another common problem. So the vin report came back all good. Now all I have to do is make sure that the title vin matches the actual vin on the car and it is a done deal. The guy is coming over today to do the trade.

So......anyone want to buy a 1995 Honda Prelude? Turns out it isn't the vtec motor, but it is the other 2.2L so I guess it is the S model.
