I never knew it could be declared as a "precautionary measure".

I can tell you that from reports I heard directly from people out in eastern Iowa and western Wisconsin, it is pretty awful out there. State of Emergency might seem overboard for here though, a vast majority of the rest of the state though could probably use it.

We may only get 6" now, but the way people drive in Milwaukee. We are prepping for tons of accidents. :rolf There is even talk of us activating our Emergency Operations Center. It hasn't happened yet though.

You guys have no fuckin idea. We probably have easily 3" here in Madison already if not more. Coming back from MEPS I drove thru downtown and up some rural 4 lane roads. Honestly I probably saw 30+ cars in ditches, crashed, hit poles, backwards, in peoples yards, etc...

I don't understand, you have to slow down when driving in snow. What about that do people not understand?

Some lightning/thunder going on over by me right now. Crazy to see/hear during a snowstorm.

I was just out prerunning some areas I plow, I will admit it's slippery given all the FWD cars I saw who couldnt go east on Burleigh from the parkway. Watched a hotdog in an SUV try and accelerate around a corner, 4WD wont fix stupid ( ditched it, slowed down to give him the finger :) )

We probably already got 2-3" since it started 2 hours ago. The windy is crazy and there are some pretty big drifts forming already.

yup just watched an idiot jump the curb and almost spin leaving a gas station... I was ina fwd car and i was fine but i guess he had to try and make the light before the red... dont understand why people cant slow down and take their time when the roads are like this.

It's been getting worse by the hour here. Can't see very far either, would love to go out and play like a kid back in the day.

They just said on the news that there are already approx 3,500 people without power already. That........ would suck major balls.

We have had about 20 calls for wires down and transformers exploding in the last 2 hours. I totally believe the number without power. Its nasty out there.

DirtyMax

Yeah, it seems the worst thing about this one is that its wet and heavy. I have decent sized branches down all over the place and many more hanging really low because of the weight.

Yeah... either someone behind me was welding or there's a transformer that was popping off every few minutes.

we heard the one on 92nd pop and our power went out for a moment and came back on. I think another one went off just a few minutes ago closer towards Greenfield Ave.

Over 5" in the southern Waukesha region already.

I just hope this storm stays together enough and gets windy enough tomorrow that UWM cancels classes.

Just went outside. There has to be at least 8" here already, and this isn't some drift by the side of the house either.

highways were fun to drive on but seriously with people knowing this storm was coming, why wouldnt you have working headlights or non bald tires? It pisses me off seeing jalopies on the road falling apart and crawling making it difficult for others to navigate around them. Imo, if your shit isnt ready for something like this, stay home! Even after the plows were running 45 down, it barely looked touched at all. It is funny to see how many people dont understand the concept of longer braking distances or how to start out in the snow. I did get a chuckle watching some dumbass TRYING to drive his Z28 on the unplowed highway.

Got up at 3:30 to plow, waste of time less removing the 4' snowballs in front of peoples houses the plows left. A big wet vac would have been more usefull, 2' puddles killed a few cars this morning.

A lot of snow out here. Our birch trees aren't very happy today, since many of the branches are hanging down and filled with heavy snow on top. Holy Hill says they got 10.3" of snow, so we're somewhere near there with how much we have gotten.
