View Full Version : GPS Unit Suggestions.....

My grandparents (about 80 years old) are receiving a GPS unit from my aunt for X-mas to use on their trip ‘down south’ this winter. They ONLY need something to give directions; anything else will be a waste as they are NOT tech savvy and won't use it regardless. They'll have a hard time learning how to use the direction guided feature so the simpler the better. I have a c330 Garmin Street Pilot and it still works perfect for directions but that is the only experience I have with GPS units.....
With that said what should my aunt get them and where should she purchase it from...???
Any help is much appreciated,
~Justin :thumbsup

I have the Garmin 205W. It's inexpensive, and doesn't do a lot of extra, fancy stuff. I like the wide screen of it though. I used a 3.5" screen garmin once and the 4.3 is a lot easier to see. Good for old folks.

Soooo there's 19,354 incorporated cities in the US. At $3 a pop for a map of each of these cities those maps would cost $58,062.
$100 for a GPS doesn't sound too bad huh?
Not that you need a map of 19,354 cities but it's nice to know you do. ;)

I just bought a new garmin I think its a Nuvi 1400. Its the brand new 5" screen. I love it, but its got a ton of toys on it that your grandparents will never ever use. I would stick with some sort of Garmin. They have always seemed to be the nicest ones.

Garmin is coming out with an OBD2 bluetooth adapter. You should get a killer Garmin, let your grandparents borrow it and get it back for Spring. I got a 1390t in June and I love it. Easy to use and speaks street names with direction which keeps your eyes on the road and not on the little screen, which would help old folks.
