They had a bunch on in a row last night. First was a 60 something Shelby Cobra REAL car that the guy was paid to tow for free. It was the complete chassis (frame, body, etc.) even had the CSX. They bought it for 30k :wooo and dumped another 80k into it to finish it. What a dam find. Then some guy brought in a 1600's muskateer or whatever the hell those really old ship fighting guns were called.

Pretty dam good show.

Watched a few, not to bad for something different. The Tomcat ejection seat was a crazy thing to show up at a pawn shop with.
The 2 pound Hotchkis cannon was the shit when they fired it off.

The cobra body was not a real 60's shelby, just a real newer shelby.

Would a real '65 aluminum shell have zero rust? everything on that suspension looked like it was installed a few days ago, not 44yrs ago. Is it that hard to etch a CSX###### into a piece of metal?

I think the shop wanted their $80k to finish up an alleged real shelby.

The guy also said there was only 1 known geniune shell known in the world... yet they just happen to have another now! hah.

Watch it all the time though, check out the playboy episode with Peaches in it.... good god that chick is ridiculously hot.

Feel bad for the kid who brought in his grandfathers nautical clock gizmo. Said was scared to talk to his grandpa about it and wanted to sell it. Gizmo was estimated to be valued at $2K by the expert "if" it worked. What the grandpa could have told him was the shipping cork was in place and the clock wouldnt run with that so selling it for $750 when dude got repaired in 30 seconds when they pulled out the cork and voila...it worked. DUMBASS!!

Just so ya know. Yes a '65 aluminum shell would have NO rust if i left it in my driveway uncovered for the next 40 years. Aluminum doesn't rust.

True, it wouldn't rust. But it does corrode, discolor, and pit. Soi don't think it'd look like that.

Aluminum doesn't rust.
But it oxidizes...and when oxidation occurs to steel or iron, we colloquially refer to it as "rust."

AL just doesn't form the same red-brown color that we call rust, and is less prone to oxidation than iron and steel.

I wouldn't be surprised if some of the bartering is staged, but the show's still entertaining either way.

What happens when they pawn/buy something stolen?

The cops seize the property and the shop is out whatever they paid for it.

Would the same thing happen if a regular citizen bought stolen property unknowingly?

Have you noticed that when they ask how much the person wants for whatever they are sellng, they immideately cut the price in half! Always go high! Then work your way down still in your favor.

wikked
01-05-2010, 05:22 PM
Yea, but they're not going to give you half, if you say $5,000 and it's only worth $1,000 :P

Some of those people cave way too early though, like that guy with the crotch rocket.
Then again, when you need money instantly, you don't really have a choice.
Great business to be in if you know a shit ton about that stuff :)

I was out in Vegas last week and my wife and I stopped at the store. The Old Man and Rick were there. Chumlee and Hoss were off. The store is a lot smaller in person than it looks on TV.
