It didn't disappear, it was brought up but when even Fox News didn't bite on it the right dropped it. They didn't bite because 1: He invited himself. 2: It was the George Washington University Homeland Security Policy Institute, not Homeland Security. 3: ""All of these events were open to the public," the statement reads. "At no time has Nidal Hasan been affiliated with [the Homeland Security Policy Institute] or The George Washington University." So, Hasan chose to attend a conference relevant to his field, much like a doctor would attend a conference about diabetes, for example."

I think Jamicheals is correct...what is being asserted by this? Nothing is explicitly stated in or by the original post.

I think Scott picks up on it when he reveals that the think-tank has no apparent formal role in the Obama administration and the link that reveals the chain-emails...though one could argue that a few of obama's staff did attend, this doesn't lead to a direct link, nor can one say that Nadal had any hand in formulation of policy, much less what input he had at the think-tank conference.

But, what I find bizarre is the politifact analysis of the situation.

"At no time has Nidal Hasan been affiliated with [the Homeland Security Policy Institute] or The George Washington University." So, Hasan chose to attend a conference relevant to his field, much like a doctor would attend a conference about diabetes, for example.Hasan IS a doctor. This WASN'T a conference on diabetes. How was homeland security in any way shape or form relevant to his field (he was only one of two associated with the field of medicine)? Bizarre reasoning to say the least.

Again, I don't think there was anything nefarious...the guy was looking for a forum where he thought he could influence the debate with his radical islamacist rhetoric, if any at all. Another possibility was simply to sit and observe so as to report to the radical islam websites he posted at what the new trends in thinking were here in the US during the transition from one administration to the next. I'd doubt very much that Hassan had any credentials that would have made him stand out to be invited to a conference like this. We're just seeing evidence of what this guy has kept himself busy with.

Their "Pants on Fire" section is quite a read; http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/rulings/pants-fire/

I meant the whole thing, not this clipping. Also I never said there was any link to the Obama administration or anything like that. It is quite a coincidence tho. Quick to jump on the defense are we? :wooo
