I lost my main BCM plumbers phone number when my phone crashed, so I figured I would post these here and see if I can get a response :) This is in my basement floor, I dug it out to double check for any issues before I fill with gravel and pour concrete over the top. Would love to know if this was done right before I cover it up and make a lot of work for myself down the road.

I broke off the end of the clogged piece of drain tile and it appears the rest is clear from debrit / breaks ( as far as I can see with my flashlight anyways ) so my next question is do I need to dig out this crock and make it useable again? I do have another towards the east corner of the house, this one is smack dab in the middle of the basement on the north wall. Also, if I do need to how do I go about getting the drain tile to the crock? The crock has a hole near the top of it the size of a baseball I'm just not sure how you would get the water flowing into it?

Thanks much for any suggestions / comments

What? The drain tile is clay, and all this other crap was added for the additional bathroom. This was all done before I bought the house

Sorry E, I havent been on here lately, I have been busier than ever with work! I'll PM you my phone number.
It looks like someone kinda had a 'small' amount of plumbing exposure, I see the 3" test tee with a plug on the branch serving the added bathroom, which would indicate they performed an air or water test for inspection, and an Air Admittance Valve for a vent, but seeing the illegal fittings right upstream from it would prove there wasn't one.

That fitting arrangement is obviously flowing enough to 'work', but is not properly installed, vented or sized. (Although there has just been a code change which allows 1 1/2" PVC drain to be buried now, but you still can't use short sweep fittings as you have.)
You said you have another crock in the basement? Is is just a clear water/sump pump and discharges out to grade?

Next question is do you have a floor drain down there and where does it go to? (That may have been an old grey water crock too.)

You should connect the gap between the 2 sections of drain tile you have there along the footing, just with 3 or 4" PVC is fine.

And put some pipe insulation or duct tape around your copper water service before you concrete.

Gimme a ring if you want to go over your pics any more bud, Sam

Thanks for the info / suggestions Sam. I am going to dig up that crock and re-route the drain tile, then get it covered up tonight. Do the poly-carbonate inserts for the crock come in different sizes? Or should I just drop a submersible pump in there without an insert?

Haha, thanks Kelly. I learn as I go, and I'm too cheap to pay someone else. I wish I knew carpentry better then I do, I'm having a heck of a time trying to hang a freakin pre-hung door in my basement :)

If that crock holds water, you can use it.

The Poly ones to come in many sizes too if you feel ambitious.

Hey!

Haha, got some 4" drain tile, gravel, concrete, all that crap. Had a home depot dope suggest a sump pump, said ok no problem get it home and its a damn Utility pump! Any suggestions on submersible pumps? Looking for something I won't have to replace for a long, long time.

Alright, all thats left is to get some pipe insulation and a pump, This is how its looking right now. More gravel? I think I have around 3 inches or so to level, I do want to get some gravel over the tops of the pipe

I'm not a pro ( or even close ) so don't be too harsh. I just hope they didn't pull a permit when they did this plumbing work. Any way for me to find out if there are any open permits on this house? I should probably figure that out before I pour concrete.

Looks good, you can just call downtown and give them your address and they will tell you if there are any open permits .
I'm sure there are not though.

Ok, put the pump in the hole and got it hooked up this morning and it works ok but there is 20 pounds of water sitting in the discharge line because of the check valve. Isn't this going to freeze in the winter?

You could bypass the valve for the winter Eric. Let it drain back in the crock. Make sure your discharge pipe out the house has a slight pitch and you should be fine.
