Go for it! Then twin-turbo it! I think a nice Borg Warner S400SX3 80mm secondary with a HX40 Pro primary would be awesome!

The car might weigh a bit though....Oh wait, it isn't like it is 2000# from the factory....

Tow with it!

LOL ya! my primary single on my truck is a s400sx. we just finished up a 62/71/12 over a s480 last night on a truck :) i would do a s300 over s400 if it were getting twins.

If you re read the article is no where near stock..... but what i think is gay about that car is that it is clearly built for mid 8s (fully tubbed, chute, molly chassis ect.) and the things barely in the 9's... yes 9s is fast, but all that money into that thing just to be different...... not worth it!

sick and tired of 5.0's

its like... ok i got it.. its a mustang, and it has a 5.0 in it.. again.

oh hey look, theres another!

whats that i see over there?.. oh another 5.0

I went to the Ford dealership car show on layton this past year, and of all the cars there, half were 5.0's.

I say do it, the hang the biggest spoolable turbo on there, and go for the 10's, then get some 5.0 emblems, and put "not a" above it.

oh hey look, theres another 5.0

The thing is you can do that with a 5.0 too.

I think the swap is cool because it would be different, not because it was the fastest thing out there.

but it wouldnt be cool with a 5.0 motor, OR if it were slower than a 5.0

hense go for speed.

then get a trailer with a bobcat on it, and race 5.0's with it on. :rolf

ya at first it wasnt until it started getting some notification. then people started throwing parts at him. he is on competitiondiesel.com a forum i frequent. during hotrod dragweek it went 9.9x on a small tune only to find out only one stage was working. on the 'big' tune the car is in the 8s (8.95) surprisingly with the 4L80e behind it.

Yeah, i suppose, lets deviate from a tried and trued platform that can run consistant numbers time after time at the race track and in its place we could build a diesel powerd mustang which is great because ive NEVER seen diesels run consistant numbers since they rely so heavily on EGTs for performance. Further more, the money that would go into making a 10 second diesel mustang you could have a low 9 second gasser..... I understand that being different is cool, but it also has its place. if you are going to be differnt, at least do it to the point where it can still perform with what you replaced or changed from...... but i dont see that happening with a diesel!

the 4l80 when built is a fucking tank..... its basically a a TH400 with OD... which i find funny because these guys that do all the "truck pulls" will put $10K transmissions in them which fail within a year, when you can build a 4l80 for a fraction of the cost and have a better trans.......

i never said 5.0's were a bad platform.
i admit, YES they ARE a good platform.

heck i even *considered* buying one myself, and wouldnt pass up one if the deal was right. BUT i wouldnt be all giddy about it.

as far as deisel performance... i havent the slightest clue.

"different", to me, is cool. Id take a fairmont over a fox anyday, even though i would be sacrificing "coolness" (to others) and performance slightly.

I never meant to bash 5.0's, or the idea of them.

i just, personally, dislike mustangs, camaros ect. im all for the underdog, and the 'surprise attack' a deisel mustang would give lol

I know this. why i said that.

"slight perfomance" = added weight (id assume 4dr fairmont is fatter than 2dr fox)

oh and IMO "Fox" referse to the 1978-19?? mustang body style, not the chassis design, which may or may not be what your refering to.

Aren't Fairmonts a little lighter than the typical Mustang?

And yes, I also noticed 5.0L's seem to be in lot of Mustangs, it is like a factory somewhere was just churning them out or something...
