I took my recent job change like a champ. It was a situation I created so I owned it like a man and moved on but today I get a call that my grandmother (who raised me) was admitted to a hospital in Charlotte, NC. She was having issues breathing so pushed her "come get me button" and the ambulance came. After a day in the hospital they found a clot so they did a minor procedure to go after it but couldnt stop the bleeding and blood pressure dropped.

They put her in emergency surgery and my brother said the family is being called in. She is 82 years old and my whole world. She took me out of children centers when I was 12 years old and gave me a home. She is the only family member who visited me in the homes. If its her time then its her time to no longer suffer but this is truly going to get me!!

Maybe another drive to charlotte is coming. Just dont know

I sincerely feel for you. It is different for all of us as we cope with the reality of mortality, but we are getting to the age that this is a reality. I will be praying for you and hope that you have the strength to remember the blessing that you gained for being a part of each others lives.

Got an update. She is done with surgery took 12 pints of blood during the whole thing. Vitals never really stabalized where they want so she is on ventilator and life support. Next 12 to 36 hours will tell truth as to how she goes. Wife and I are packing a bag just in case to be ready to bail out.

I will miss her but just dont want her to suffer any more. She has been in pain and lonely for long enough. Let her find peace if its her time.

Today is kinda the same as yesterday with the exception they got her off the breathing machine. Blood pressure is stable but liver function is not where they want. Its less then half where should be so working on that. Crossing fingers

So sad to hear this Kelly. I pray she makes it through, be strong for her! Cant you guys just take the ride there anyway? If your wife has been at her job for over 12 months, she should be able to file for FMLA and get the time off to go. Please pm us if you need anything, get there if you can!

I was just there in august and we had a talk where I got to say bye. Its more of time/money management really. If we go she only gets 3 days so we gotta manage those and I would want to be there for funeral too for family. Dunno.....twisted for sure. but think thats what I want most. I have been sending video messages through the phones too.

understandable. I am pretty sure though she would get more time off than 3 days though by law under the FMLA. Again, I understand its about money too as I dont think she would get paid for it but they couldnt release her or reduce her hours when she came back. either way, prayers are with you and your family.

Things were really looking up gang. They had moved my granny to a lower level room as for critical care and such and all signs were moving up and tonight I get the call that they things went down and not sure what but she signed a DNR and they didnt know and she coded so they put her on life support. Family got there, realized what happened and they are giving her morphine for pain and removing her from life support. I am packing up a few thigns and off to charlotte bright and early.
