Edit - From Puresound15

Below is a rundown of the infraction system, and a few posts that were moved from another thread to create this one.

the what? I'm honestly curious, how does this work?

so how do we know if we have infractions against us?

Looks like it's moderator only that can give them, on a genereal or per post basis as they see fit.

Thanks for the link Ryan and sorry for the hijacking... now back to the normally scheduled program!

You get a pm and it shows up as part of your User Control panel. I'll poast pics later if no one else has.

As some of you have found out - we are now using the infraction system to properly, and systematically control some of crap that a few of our members chose to spew upon our deliciously entertaining/informative board.

Read all that you'd like to here...
http://www.vbulletin.com/docs/html/user_infractions

I'll try to give a quick run down of the way that it works...

Infractions are given to those who chose to say things like:

"I'll punch both of you at the same time"

"Your mother is a $*@$#"

"Hey nice thing for sale! I can buy it cheaper,I think you're gay!"

In general -

Blatent personal attacks and insults
Breaking rules of the forum (Including classified)

Since a lot of us DO personally know eachother and there are many inside jokes and sarcasm might not be taken the right way - keep that in mind if you are given an infraction because of a statement that could be taken (and will be taken) the wrong way if nobody else understands your "HUMOR"

If you get an infraction - you will receive a PM notification with a copy of the post and a message from the moderator explaining the infraction.

There's more to know - and if you have questions, ask away, I'm sure all of the moderators will chime in. I think that Holeshot (Dan the man) has been using this system on one of his "Male recreation" boards.

i was on another forum that has this system. does your system also whipe out infractions over the course of time? i know theres did so after 6 months or so.

Other than the movie, yes. Rather than having Moderators send messages to eachother about PMs that we get back from people that are banned or put on a timeout, this system lets us all keep track of what.

It's more formal than it was before.

Yes it does - and while I believe our time limit is shorter than that, I'm having trouble finding the answer.

I use it on another site that I'm a mod on. I really like it. Especially when you set it to automatically create a thread for each infraction. That way you can document things easily.

bingo. as in bad things, ban. or we'll just delete your account totally. otherwise, you can lose privledges, such as the classifieds section. you won't get to read it at all or post in it
