So - Joe and I have the NT05 on our cars, and I think it's a phenominal tire. Today they released the new "true drag radial" version - I'm psyched.

10/26/2009-- NITTO TIRE RELEASES ALL-NEW DRAG-SPECIFIC RADIAL: NT05R

Nitto Tire announces the release of its all-new D.O.T.-compliant competition drag radial, the NT05R. The NT05R is Nitto’s most aggressive drag radial designed for competition use. Nitto will officially debut the tire at this year’s SEMA show, held at the Las Vegas Convention Center from November 3 to 6, 2009. Visit Nitto at booth #46115 to see the tire. The NT05R will be available for purchase in the first quarter of 2010.

Nitto’s top priority during the development of the tire was to maximize traction. To achieve this, Nitto engineered an all-new specialized race compound and a large contact patch. The dual-purpose sidewall construction is enhanced for traction during launch as well as straight-line stability at the top-end. This improves consistency and controllability throughout the entire pass.

The NT05 will be available in popular 17- to 20-inch rim diameters designed for high-performance drag racing vehicles. Included in the size lineup is a P345/30R19, which is the world’s first 19-inch drag radial. Sizes will be released throughout 2010.

that looks like a tire that MIGHT work almost as good as a M/T radial.

Fucking sweet. This has been the best tire I have ever put on my car.

I agree - but the "water channels" make them a bit safer for the long cruises that we do. I got caught in the rain last year with my Nittos and did fine - the time before with my BFGs I was all over the road.

It will be interesting have some more competition for the ET Street radials... Lord knows the current 555r can't truly compete.

Kind of wierd sizes. No 16" for the f body guys on stock rims. Who the hell is going to use a 345/19???

Says they are designed for "competition use," who drag races with 20" rims, lol. Just something to think about.

Seems like they are designed for high HP blinged out street cars that want to hook at 45 instead of 60 like they do now:rolf

if the 275/40/17 is cheaper than $190 a tire then ill give em a try. But right now the Et STreet radial is hard to beat.

Yea pretty sure the large diameter sizes are for the modern "muscle" cars which frequently use 18" to 20" rims.

nice. they actually have some that fit the lightning rims too. my 555r's are nearing bald so I might try these over the MT's.

Thats pretty much what i was getting at, all the serious guys are going to be running 15's, maybe 16's. If they catch on i'm sure they will introduce more sizes.

maybe they don't offer any in 15-16 cause everyone that REALLY needs too hook just run M/t's and they know they can't compete?

My bfg's are fine in the rain until they get bald like yours were.

Good point, either that or they are already on a full slick, lol.

That just happens to be the biggest size you can fit on the stock rear wheels on a 06+ Z06! I will definitly have these!

Yeah they are definitly becoming a lot more affordable. Mine is a 07 that had a 78k sticker new. I got it with 10k on it in the mid 40s. I also got excellent trade in value for my 135i and good financing.
