Started to take apart my triumph today in favor of a better body and chassis to put the motor in.:crying

not sure if i made the right choice, dont know what im putting the motor/ect in

i know a whole lot more so it would come out way better now too. lol

A bit on the triumph;

I learned on it :durr

I got it with the motor bolted in.
then i replaced all the floors, and put it frame connectors and upper dash supports, as well as new floors and console (almost finished the console..)
anyways, then wired and plumbed motor, and got a driveshaft made etc.
(my dad told me how to do it, i did it fab work, all.)

no painting.

3 years go by and we cant get it to run. wtf.

fixed all lights

ok now i got a rebuilt head w/ 3 angle vavle job and bigger cam, all new fuel system, new carb, just new buncha shit, :banana1:

6 months of tuning on/off

wtf

ok now my dad decides one day swap the carb (the brand new one come off)

he did it and it ran! reved to 4k but boosted great, the i turned rev limiter up (lol) and it FFFFFFFUCKING flew. it didnt hook up really till top of 2nd, and then 3rd was just gone on you no matter what your in :devil

my friend who rode in an evo pushin 25psi screamed like a girl. awesome

pics to see why its coming apart. (coffin):punch:

Wow. Lot of work there. Looks like it was starting to come together too. Any idea what you plan to put the engine into? Kit car prehaps?

<-- Fellow triumph owner, motorcycle that is.

I would find another old Triumph. Maybe a GT+6, so that would be a stiffer body as it has a roof. If you put it in a run of the mill Asian car, I think the "surprise" factor will be gone. No one expects a Brit car to blow their doors off, especially a Spitfire. Austin bugeye Sprite or MG Midget maybe???

could you by any chance swap that into a TR7? Not that there are many around here w/o rust, lol. But on my bike ride to work, I see at least two parked...

Reminds me...I'd love to have a TR8 before I die...

Maybe you can talk that Sprite body out of dad's garage and build a chassis for it. That would be perfect. Just don't cheap out in it, get some decent parts and don't just cobble it together.

Sucks to see that car torn apart, I remember when I began disassembling it for the V8 swap (that never happened) before I bought the Bradley and the Studebaker (yikes, that was 11 years ago! That car has been in our family for a while!)

I still think you made the right choice. That car was a death trap, it was rusting apart and extremely fast. Swapping that motor and trans into something more solid is the right way to go. I've been saying that for a long time.

Besides, you can find blown up MG's and Fiat Spyder's and the like for pretty damn cheap because nobody wants to fix them.

Here you go Dan....

Those can't weigh much at all, how much power do you think the motor was putting out?

yea im deffinitly going to go 'hard top' funny you mentioned bug eyed sprite, my dad has a body of one of them.

that sux. the neighbors call and complain constantly about the amount of cars that are on that property (dads house)

IDK about bolting it into a tr7, i really want an mgb-gt (mg wagon)

that fiat is ugly as shit. theres another reason i took it apart. (cheaping out) dad was really hounding me to hurry up and finish it off, but its like i didnt even have a boost-retard box and the timing was just locked out like 8* retared, and i had no way of monitering a/f ratio. i figured if i take it apart, whatever i 'bolt it into' will be nice enough i wont have any quams of dropping $500 in neccessary tuning components dad refuses to believe are neccessary.

Those can't weigh much at all, how much power do you think the motor was putting out?

according to a tech guy from stinger motorsports (bigger supplier of 2.3t parts) he said with the new setup, at 14psi, i should see 250+hp at the wheels.

i know 250hp isnt alot, but when in a car that weighs next to nill, it surely seems like it. (triumph had a power to weight ratio of 7.8ish)
