It was completely sideways, perfect 90 degree drift

the car was past 90 degrees and the speed was high thats how drifting is judged speed and drift angle. the angle that car was at was almost to the point of spining out and he carried it thru the corner i think its epic but it only one corner usually they do a whole course

I see him getting side ways initially but it doesn't look like he stayed that way.

Judged motor sport competitions are ftl!

yeah, drift is like a nascar driver going sideways and saving it.......but with points

Looks like he went past 90° to me. The impressive part is that the front tires are shitty enough that they have *less* sliding resistance when getting dragged sideways than the rear tires when lit up.

Anyone notice that the front tires look like they go way past the typical 35°-45° at lock? Looks like he gets almost 70°. Must be everybody is making custom knuckles for drifting... kids these days.

Ditto, seriously, if I had known this was so big I would have started video taping the high speed drifts on gravel roads in my '77 Monaco, but oh yeah, no fancy smoke coming off the tires then.

He did, watch towards the end from the in car view. You can clearly see which direction the front of the car is facing. Even with the curve of the turn its still past 90*.

Because it's fucking awesome. It's not an easy skill to perfect, and if you watch drift competitions, there's a hell of a lot of crashes. Even the "pros" wrap it up quite a bit.

The angle on that drift was amazing, coupled with the speed, and the control involved in keeping it on course while having practically zero traction.

Still not as crazy as those Arab Drift videos... those guys are insane.

He's actually past 90 degrees. It's the first reverse drift ever done. What he did there was nuts. Dude just threw physics out the door.

I used to be a big fan of the sport but lost interest over the last few years. It's still fun to watch though. It's WAAAAY more fun watching it in person. I mean who here doesn't like the smell of burning rubber? And that's basically what you smell the entire time.

The coolest thing I ever seen was when Casper Canul, and Chris Forsberg and those guys were at The Milwaukee Mile for a demo during one of the races. Those dudes went 5 cars deep into the turn at 115mph and drifted the ENTIRE baked turn. That is serious skill no matter how you look at it.

I thought if you did a reverse drift you go back in time?

Beware the overdrift...
