I have a 383 LT4 with all the toys and I was on the gas the other day and the car backfired, dropped to idle I gave it gas again and ran ok to about 4k then ran like sh-t and died. Discovered the coil was dead. Changed it now I have fire to the plugs again and it won't start. I do have 40lbs of fuel press. Tried starter fluid, changed the icm and still no start. help

Step 1: Fix opti spark

Step 2: Sell the lt4 and get an ls1 in there.

Step 3: you dont have to thank me.

10.75@125 with a hundred shot on a motor that is built for another 100 can I get you to say 10.4. Plenty fast and based on the times on this site one of the faster cars. Oh and I have 15K in it! Yeah opti's suck but this car gets 20mpg on the highway and has a/c, cruise and everything else runs in bumper to bumper traffic at a nice cool 160..

I daily drove mine with a 3600 stall for 3 years. nitrous on it for 2 years. Stock motor Never had the valve covers off. 1500 dollar setup got me high 11's/low 12's. I spent more money on tylenol because of the bitch motor lt1. And that is a good time when the opti IS working. Sorry to say that it is not one of the faster cars on this site.

I guess we could go back and forth forever, (I really just wanted some constructive advice on the problem I was having with my car) I see 24 of the TOP 50 Brew City Muscle cars faster. So I guess that would put me in the top 25. Pretty good I guess. Which one are you? Anyway thanks for all the help you gave me with the reason I posted to begin with!

still waiting for the guy who derailed this thread beagz, to tell me about his 9 second car probably that subaroooo. Thanks Irish and I agree with you, dr ford however its really cost effective to convert to a ls1 at this point. (not really) These days a car worth 30K will get ya 15K. I also like the quote in your post irish ironically from dr ford. Help is what I was looking for not a debate about opti's we all know they are junk or GM products good or not, some are some aren't. Whatever you got there is someone with something better, that is life. PS I am glad I joined this site and look forward to one of these summers when things slow down to get down to that area where people park, show off their cars and talk cars. Later Guys

juiced impala who tuned your car?

juicedimpss
11-03-2009, 10:58 AM
self tuned sir.
have you looked into the LS pcm conversion?
Ive been thinking about that setup for a customers car.
It doesnt take many opti's to make that a feasible alternative

A ten second car is still faster than 85% of the shit that is on the streets around here. I don't give care if it's an lt1 or not. 10's is hauling the mail. Congrats.

Nice to see a quick LT1. BeagZ is buthurt because his lt1 car was slow and always broke. My old camaro had 180k on the ORIGINAL opti, my uncle was the original owner so i know this for sure, bought the car bone stock. The only reason it broke was because i droped it when i was putting in a new cam, LOL. Ran 12.3's @114 all day on the stock heads and bottom end.

Uh actaully my car never broke anything. still on the original opti at 100k as well, with stock heads and bottom end. The car touched the 11's without breaking anything id say thats pretty dam good. I have nothing against lt1's. I dont blame you for talking shit to me. i would be pissed to if I drove an evo :rolf

lol, not really shit talking, you just seem to bash LT1's every chance you get. Let me know when you run you subi deep 12's with an exhaust, injectors, fuel pump and a tune.:thumbsup

honestly, other than a 7.5 failure(big surprise) the only shit that was ever a problem for that car was caused by someone trying to hodge trans cooler lines. I think for the amount of mods on the car,it ran pretty well.
that thing never had a valve cover off of it.

anyways gents I took the opti off................ and there was all kinds of stuff rattling inside!!! I replaced the old opti and it started right up. Now do I get another gm opti or spend the $ and get the msd one? Yes I know they are all junk but what is the best choice.

I did have a 97ss that went 120 on the original opti so it does happen but then so do warm summers in Wisconsin!!!!!!!! Thanks Guys

FWIW,the delco one isnt the "good" delco one anymore. it is also a repacked standard piece.

the one I was referred to was the delphi one, this came from the guy who built my car and now has a 10 second 2010 ls3 stroker, been a gm mechanic for 12 years. juiced what are you using on your lt motors? and what is the price of the late model msd shipped to my door in berlin 54923? I also want a new round blaster 2 coil. I need to decide one way or another and get something order so I can store it.
