Ford Escort 1, Kia Santa Fe 0

It was bound to happen eventually. I got in my first car accident today. Thankfully it was low speed and in my winter beater.

So on my way home from work this morning, some highschool girl decided to pull out in front of me to turn left in her Kia Santa Fe. I hit the brakes and slid into her right rear tire- luckily I was only going like 25 when she pulled out, and hit her going MAYBE 5mph.

No bags blew, no real damage to the Escort... just some paint and the headlight got knocked loose. The Kia? The wheel is bent in at about a 30* angle. She needs a tow. I drove home.

I gotta say it scared the crap outta me. Cops came and sighted her for failure to yield right of way during a left turn. I'm glad there were no injuries, and I'm glad my car survived.

Now I need to get a copy of the accident report and get in touch with her insurance agency... grrr...

i got in my first reck where i was the driver on monday... 4500 in damage to the cobalt... i feel your pain.. it scared the shit out of me and now i drive like a grandma.. im afraid somebody is going to jack on the brakes at anymoment

Only accident I had been in was getting rear ended in my silverado on the freeway in rush hour traffic, and pushed into the car infront of me. Guy who rear ended me took off, the minivan had ZERO damage. Silverado had a repair bill of about $1,200. Chevy Venture > Chevy Silverado apparently lol

Oh, yeah, I drove like a grandma the whole way home. I couldn't give anyone in front of me, or turning left, enough room. I'm usually pretty defensive as it is, thankfully, otherwise this could've been a lot worse. That spot is always packed with kids pulling in to school, so I always go slow through there.

Her name was Kristen or something like that and she goes to Hamilton in Sussex. Buncha pervs. She's probably a senior though... maybe she IS legal.
