They would look even cuter as I cut them with a steak knife on my plate while his head hangs on my wall.

I believe pics 1 and 3 are the same buck but i think out of these 4 pics, there are 3 different deer. Didn't see any of them this weekend though...

Don't shoot the top or bottom buck if you hunt on a large tract of private land, they are both younger bucks who will develop into monsters if you let them. The 2nd one down is mature, will never get much bigger, put an arrow in him if you get the chance!!!

We have thousands of acres of public land around us so it's impossible to do any type of QDM. The public land by us is infested by hunters, mainly Hmong folks who roll 6 deep in a Tundra and kill anything that moves.

Yes I agree. That bottom deer looks like a 2.5 year old who will develop into something nice in another 2 years if its private land and he doesnt roam far. I am sure you know this already being a hunter but sometimes its hard not to take a deer like that.

Yep, especially if you're in the situation he is in, where if it's brown it's down mentality is prevelent. Those bucks have the genes to make Boone and Crockett though, that's for sure! Would have loved to see their dad in his prime!

I'd love to put a 12 foot fence around our 120 acres and do QDM. Aside from food plots, there's nothing else keeping these guys around so they roam all over. Unfortunately, there are tens of thousands of acres of public land all over us. And the owners of the little bits of private land kill whatever moves as well. They're in it for the kill and the meat. There have been some dandy bucks spotted but they don't stand a chance of reaching 2.5 or older. I don't know what brings all these Hmongs up here but it's frustrating. They also don't understand that a fence and several posted signs usually means stay your ass out and that a trail camera on private land isn't theirs as a parting gift. Ok I'm done before I go on a profanity-laden tyrade about inconsiderate hunters... :)

LOL, its ok. I'm sorry, I didnt mean to make a girl cry!

Look at it this way, if God didnt want deer to be shot, why did he make them out of meat?

OMFG - one of the few things I've read that I really did burst out laughing.

Good quote, Dan.

nice lookin bucks. we got a few running around by us as well. but when we are up in the summer/fall before gun season starts and hear the neighbors doing shooting practice at 9pm or later all the time. they usually arn't around come november... damn hillbilly locals..

It sucks people shoot anything that moves. Every year an elk gets shot by us misktaken for a deer. We have about 40 acres with some private land around us and the guys that own it pretty much let smaller bucks pass but the land is next to public where they are free to roam. I see the same bucks on our private land as i do on public a few miles down the road. Pre rut those deer will go many miles to find some nice doe tang.

yeah all the land by us is private we have a nice 50 acre plot and both sides of us was half way clear cut(they didn't log it all but most) it seems to be getting better and better every year. in the summer months we see tons of nice bucks but none come hunting season or the ones we do see are to small or its getting to dark. last year i had to pass on a nice 6 pointer because it was getting to dark to fast. they always seem to show up as your getting down from the stand or just after i lower my gun down lol..

I hung my deer cam in my back yard by some apple trees. In the last 2 days I got pics of 5 different bucks. This is the biggest, but there was another one almost this big. :)

If I had more land I might consider it. When friends or relatives hunt here, we take turns because I don't have much "huntable" land. Because I am next to a subdivision, the deer are very nocturnal. The last 50 pics I got on my trail cam were all between 8:00pm and 6:00am. None during legal shooting hours.

That 13 pt buck I posed last week must have a little brother. :)
