How much would it cost to get an ignition fixed on an older Ranger? Can't get the key in, would like to just replace cylinder if possible.

Not much, the part is cheap and the job is not that diffucult.....

Have you tried the aid of a lube? Or kissing it's neck or ears more? That usually helps me get it in it.

The one in my Chevette was $12 and took about an hour, in the middle of winter, with limited tools...

seriously, i'd try lube first.

its a 1990. there isnt anything to lube, something isn't aligned right in the column.

Looks like $15 at autozone for the part, and like I said. Maybe take you an hour to do.. Just rent the steering wheel puller while you're there as well. Think that's like $20 but you get it back when you return it.
