2005 Crown Vic P71
Really clean just needs a good buff and a few minor things here and there. Got it for a pretty good deal too.

I plan to just tint the windows and tail lights, and get a center console.
Possibly some bullet wheels next spring.

My friend used to have a white one of these. It was funny when we'd ride up on people and see them hittin the brakes.

I really like the Crown Vics.....Cheap to buy , easy to find parts for , roomy and very durable make them my first choice for a DD ....

Definitely sign up on Crownvic.net if you have not already. It is the absolute bible for anything you want to do to these cars. Also great for useless knowledge such as the 2005 model year is the one and only model year to have a radio antenna on the rear quarter panel instead of embedded in the rear window. :banana1:

I can also hook you up with the guy that tinted my tails if you want.

Just out of curiosity, what does something like that go for?

Prices range widely depending on miles, and wether you buy it from a dealer or straight from a municipal auction(expect hours of cleaning and minor repairs). My personal choice would be dealer and I know of one here in Wisconsin that specializes in these cars.

Here is just an example.

2006 Ford Crown Victoia Police Interceptor,P71,medium silver metallic exterior, charcoal interior, cloth buckets front, vinyl rear seat and rubber floor.8 way drivers power seat with lumbar, cruise control, and tape deck.firestone PVS radials.Beautiful paint, nice straight body. Ready for service. Only 72,000 miles $6500

I will definitely sign up. And BossLX and i were wondering about that antenna on the rear quarter :rolf.
What would it cost to get my tails and reverse lights tinted?

Probably a stupid question but what exactly is a daily driver? Simply a car you drive every day?

I got my tails tinted thru Pork. Crash did them when he was doing a few other sets. I am headed out of town for a week, so maybe just shoot Pork a PM otherwise I will see if I can give Crash a call when i get back in town next and see if he is doing any. Shoot me a PM if you can so I know whats up when I get back. I think I paid somewhere around 80 bucks for just the tails. Backup lights are a bit of pain cause that whole center panel has to come off in one piece so I did not do them yet.

What's the obsession with owning an ex-cop car? Cheap? Decent suspension/engine goodies?

At least make it not look like a cop car :-P

Drive one.

They are the last of a dieing breed. Full frame, rwd, and V8.

I use mine only for work, and so far I am seeing 24-26 mpg's on the hwy. Not bad for a large car.

A 2005 car that will last and last for mid to high 3's? What else compares? These cars go through auctions all the time with 300,000 miles on original drive train parts.

Plus I think they are just cool.

Those things are SUPER cool. There is an indian guy that lives on Rawson, between 27th and I94 that sells those things all the time. He even has had a few black and whites lately... :)

even a the grand marquis are nice. i love them cars to death, by far the best deal u can get on a car would be with one of these things. gets decent mileage for wat it is. replacement parts are cheap. easy to work on. ive owned 3 of them, one had 260k when i sold it to a buddy and hes still driving it today. and they sound bad ass when u straight pipe em:headbang

For me it's really just the perfect daily driver , I have had MANY Ford ex police cars as DD's over the years and the 98 and up Crowns are my favorite by far....My friend likes police cars too and I drove his Lumina , Taurus , Impala ( fwd ) police packages and he and I agree that they are not the same feel that the Vics have....

Mine was not an x copcar. Mine is a fully loaded Ex Hertz rental car :rolf

But as said for a big V8 RWD sedan with a real frame, you won't find a better more reliable car. Even the CIvillian cars are a steal.

Mine stickered new for $31,000 but when I bought it in November 2004 with 22k miles on the clock. I paid 14,500. I'd never buy a new one but damn can you get a deal if you shop them used.

I guess if I was to add up the money I saved with my vic over the years it would be VERY substantial....

Cheap car to buy , pretty decent mileage , cheap to insure , cheap to find parts for if needed.....I have put 45,000 miles on mine and besides oil changes it has never needed anything else....It's got 152,000 on it now and for the most part I really don't care about the miles on it as I have seen most of them go 100,000 more with ease....I thought about getting a newer one but, it's just too hard to give up on this one since I have seen how little it's cost me to own and drive it !:headbang

I've seen a few that have been Squads, then put into taxi service with over 300K on the original drive train. Sure they are beat to death, but you can't kill them.

My uncle (DynoTom) swears by his in winter. Last winter he threw some blizzak tires on his vic and said it did awesome. I will be doing the same for this winter.

Hell no, if I had one I'd make it look as close as I could to a cop car without crossing the "impersonating an officer" line. I'd for sure have a CB antenna, push bumper, and fog lights mounted behind the grille.

I have Nokian Hakkapellitta RSI's on mine for winter. I got caught at work during a big storm and I was getting better traction than some 4 x 4's in that storm.

I have been thinking about doing something like this for higher ground clearance in snow this winter. :goof :rolf

Until your late for everything because everyone around you goes 5 mph under the speed limit.

There are lots of reasons why I DON'T want mine to look like it's a patrol car.....To each his own but , I'll take mine with no squad car look at all....:shades:shades:shades
