Malware bytes AntiMalware is a must have, currently I'm a fan of eSet NOD32. At one point they detected the largest number of different virii.

Norton isn't too bad, though it tends to eat up a lot of resources.

Some people rave about AVG... never been terribly impressed myself, however the antispyware solution they bought from a company called ewido was second to none.

I've never been a big fan of McAfee. I've had issues with it blowing Windows up when you try to remove it. I have had that problem with Norton too, but not as severe. Other people really like it.

DO NOT USE Computer Associates. I've personally had big problems with it on my system. It's buggy.

I haven't had much experience with Panda or Kapersky, but people rave about those two as well.

no need for discussion. AVG or avast are both free and excellent. Avast is my choice. who the hell pays for antivirus stuff?

Just get the free Microsoft Antivirus and be done with it.

We have Kapersky at work, seems to slow the computers down compared to before we put it on them

You still need an antivirus program. Spybot and Malwarebytes for the most part deal with spyware.
