Thief River Falls, Minn. (Sept. 28, 2009) – Weekend after weekend, Team Arctic racers are proving they are the ones to beat when piloting the World’s Fastest Stock Snowmobiles.

Instead of shredding grass, Team Arctic speed aces turned their attention to the Martin, Michigan Speedway to burn rubber on the asphalt. Piloting a stock 2010 Z1 Turbo, Team Howard’s, Jeff Jaquish from Racine,Wi., shattered Glen Hall’s previous 2009 Z1 Turbo record of 137.99mph and a 9.395 E.T. with a 142mph pass and a 9.006 E.T. in the ¼ mile.

Team owner Billy Howard said of the record, “We were hoping for the first 8 second pass, but this record really gets me excited for the speed of these stock Z1 Turbos. Just like Glen Hall’s Z1 Turbo last year, ours had the stock skid, stock motor and stock turbo. We can both honestly say that Arctic Cat does make the World’s Fastest Snowmobiles!”

I think Jeff Simon's turbo Yammi's are just a bit faster. Well into the 8.00's Not stock stuff though.

They are, I think he cracked off a 7.9x run at 180ish mph a couple years ago. But like you said, not stock sleds

I guess AC decided that if they cant make a machine that handles, rides, steers, jumps, lands, and carves like a Polaris, They might as well have Suzuki build them a motor to make them go fast in a straight line on pavement :D

I am a firm Believer that if you can run mid 8 seconds in a 1/4Mi as I do with carburetors and three cylinders thats impressive!!! Turbos, Nitrous,any power adders are Bullshit in my mind!!!!!:banana1:

I am suprised Polaris finally got rid of trailing arms! The new F series, although butt ugly will outhandle any Polaris. Haven't ridden that new 600 for this year, might be a step in the right direction for them.

I am a pretty die hard cat fan but I don't think anything touches the Ski Doo XP chassis as far as an all around sled. Definitely will be my next sled.

/\/\ Way off on that btw, you really need to give them credit though.... they have kept most of their production in the US, their engine facility is in Oscala WI (spelling) They havent sent any production lines down to Mexico like BRP did recently!
