Thats a brilliant idea if they can get the price down to make it practical. The article said those roads would be heated so no more need for salt!

This is so sweet. Other then cost and the time it would take to convert the roads I don't see any other downfalls.

I hope to live to see this kinda stuff.

I can see traction and wear issues. But it's not a terrible idea.

I can see snow accumulation being a probalem also. Some developments in the Milwaukee area have been forced to start using Pervious asphalt (allows water to flow through) to compenstae for MMSD storm water management calcs. It is very expensive and has a lot of maiantenance requirements like it needs to be vacuumed so sediment does not impede the flow of water to the engineered agregate base.

Pretty cool for the southern states though.
