I only need a few features in a CD player, MP3 playback, Sirius ability, a remote, and a nice display. I found this Pioneer Premier that looks good, anyone have/had it? I see it has a USB port on the front, I could load up a flashdrive and plug it right in, play songs off it? Thanks!

for the features you're looking for, and because it doesn't SEEM that you're super picky, the price is overkill. IMO for buying head units, buy last years' model. they're ALL over ebay and such, i have a kenwood similar to that one, it has all the options you list, i got it for 90 shipped on ebay. here are some examples, the JVC is obviously a cheaper one, you get what you pay for, but these include a wiring harness too, kinda nice.

I see many units dont come with preset buttons anymore. I think another thing I need is the USB on the front, that would be handy since I dont have an ipod.

If you do like it, crutchfield is always overpriced. Just Google it and you will find a cheaper price 99% of the time.

on the pioneers, the presets are on the knob. Usually you just push either up or over to one side that that takes place of the presets.

I would go with the Pioneer. I've always had awesome luck with them and never any issues. They make great quality products.

That model looks like something I may even be intrested in. Thanks for getting the wheels turning, my wife will love me even more for this. :chair:

Hey Nix, glad I could help, lol.

Now, do I get the Premier or just the plain Pioneer? Hmm....

I see that JVC comes with the Bluetooth hands-free stuff, the Pioneer is extra. I wonder how well it would work in the car, I remember Ryan telling me he cant even use it in his Cobra and I'm sure my car is louder than his.

Bahhh, that bluetooth stuff is crap. How often do you really talk on your tele when you are in your car? I guess that would be the deciding factor, do you think you would use it? thats a personal prefrence.

Other than that, if you go with the Pioneer, you may as well do it right and go with the Premier for sure man. Do it once and do it right, also if you plan on having it in your vehicle for years to come, make sure you are happy with it when you make your final decision. Otherwise you will end up like me and changing out audio components as often as you change your drawers! lol :thumbsup

the bluetooth hookup for the phone is super nice, but the rest is garbage like nick said.

Dan - if you don't have an Ipod, you can use the "axillary in" in the back of the HU, and just leave the headphone jack end out somewhere near your dash (or center console).

So you would need a 6ft (or 3 foot) Rca - Headphone jack chord.

I would probably just get a 2gb flash drive and plug it in, could just leave it behind the dash even once I load it up with songs. I'm gonna get an Iphone after Xmas, not that it matters. I couldnt imagine being able to use the Bluetooth phone feature in my car, I think I'm going to go with the Premier unit since I cant afford an in-dash navigation head unit.

Ryan, are you saying I could use my MP3 player with a headphone cord plugged in even though its not an Ipod brand? I think I have a Sansa MP3 player or something.

Yes, thats what I'm saying. As long as it has a headphone jack, you can have it come through 99.9% of aftermarket head units for the cost of a $3 cable.
