(This was all yesterday 9-9-09) Found this little guy in my back yard.. Must have gotten abandoned by mom. He looked dehydrated/sickly/etc didn't know, so just put a plate of water out for him and some bird seed. He seemed to like my shoe (kept crawling up my pant leg and trying to get into my shoe) so I gave him an old shoe and it became his home.

(This morning 9-10-09) Checked on him before work and he actually stayed with the shoe and was all curled up sleeping, flies were bothering him so I put him further in the woods with a small light cloth over it to keep the flies off him. Then went to work.

(After work 3:00pm 9-10-09) He was still sleeping in the shoe.. Decided that it was probably his time. So I walked away and went and laid down inside.. Got to researching on the ol' iPhone and found a Wildlife Rehabilitation Center locally and gathered him up. They have rehabed hundreds of young squirrels and mine was actually in good shape minus having fly larvae in his fur and will have an easy living until release with his other rehab needing friends.

Found out he's 5-6 weeks so he still needed nursing.. Amazing lil' guy, he followed everywhere I went in the backyard with just some chattering noises and snapping of my fingers... Just couldn't let him die. lol

They're cute till they burrow a whole in your cedar siding of your house. Then them fvckers need to die!

Cute; thankfully it was you and not me that found him...my wife would have made me keep him as a pet...

I have cedar siding and they do nothing to me.. My cat keeps them far away (indoor/outdoor) but the sneaky lil' chipmunks chew on the trim around the garage.. Those cute lil' bastards.

I figure my house is on their land.. Can't hate them for what they do.

a coworker had the same thing happen.. i have a video on my phone that he sent me.. it followed him around the yard and such and when he went inside it climed on the screen of the screen door and waited for him to come out... he also took it to a shelter..

I commend you for your compassion! However, I hate tree rats. They are dirty little bastards... Only thing worse is a raccoon! I have to admit though it's hard to be heartless towards a baby of almost any specie short of a rattlesnake or a alligator/crock etc..

I just released a baby coon into the parkway after work tonight. I trapped him last night. Got a couple of them tearing apart my trash every chance they get. Unfortunately, he wasn't one of the 2 30 pounders I got rolling through my yard at night.

Yea, those guys can get pesky, I had to invest in some locking lid trash cans. But another one of my favorite animals, if I could safely have one as a pet that I could have come in and outdoors without him getting into everything I'd do it in a heartbeat.

We have a resident chipmunk that DRIVES our cats completely crazy. He runs the base of the window ledge. I swear he doing it on purpose. One day our Maine coon will take it down tho. He already almost bagged a rabbit.
