View Full Version : Gun People.... Does this one suck?

After screwing around with airsoft, pellet, and paintball guns, I'm ready to own my own real one. I was thinking about getting this one, but I don't know that much about guns. I like it because it looks cool, you can get 50 rnd clips, and it shoots somewhat like a smg and it's cheep. $360 brand new. Does this gun suck or not?

Wow that's cheap.

While I have no experience with it to back it up, I'll say that usually you get what you pay for. A $360 gun probably isn't going to be very reliable (unless it's a .22)

Check this thread out:

Sounds like it's more bark than bite.

Go to the range, rent some guns, shoot them, and see what you like. Badger has a nice selection, as do most ranges. Or find one of us "gun guys" and usually we'll be more than happy to take you to the range if you're trying to figure out what you like.

EDIT: Must add, while it LOOKS pretty cool, it's pretty useless at the end of the day. It's a "gangsta" gun. Spray and pray. It's not going to be accurate, and you're not going to want to open carry it.

What are you gonna do with it? I'm very pro-gun, but seriously, why that? You gonna buy a red Hyundi and play "Boyz in the hood"?

I really don't understand why every idiot with a camcorder wants to make himself look like Rambo on youtube. Nothing like giving the opposition fuel for the fire.

"Look like a wacko with a full auto assault-rifle for everyone in the world to see and use for their anti-gun propaganda? Don't mind if I do!!!!!"

I'd deff go to a range and see what you like. I have a 9mm and a .40cal. I know they won't let you fire the gun with the 50 round clip unless you have land where else can you use it? Also look around and see how much ammo is, adds up pretty quick.

if its you only gun,and you want it for protection, get a REAL gun. why waste your money on a POS that might not work when you need it most.
spend the extra coin and get something nice as a first piece.

Those are for fun and stuff, not usually known for high reliability. I wouldn't trust my life or safety to a lowend wannbe subgun like that or the tec 9 , etc. If you want something just for fun once in a while they are fine. But accurate and reliable doesn't usually describe them.

What are you looking to do with the gun you buy?

Rocket Power

and BTW bumpfiring is a good way to draw unwanted attn and some people have had guns fire out of battery while doing it. firing out of battery = pain for you and the gun.

Get a normal gun of some type for your first, not some commando , video game wannabe type gun.

If you really want a 9mm sub gun, get an MP5 clone. Much more fun, much more accurate, much more practical, much more reliable, much more expensive:rolf

If you want "cheaper", find an older UZI, they are reliable as hell. If it's one thing the Isralies know, it's how to build reliable weaponry.

That gun looks like a 1989 Ford Tempo: noisy and unreliable.

Go to http://www.shootersshop.com/index2.html and test out some different pistols.

I recommend .45ACP 1911's or something in a 9mm Glock. I'm also partial to .40S&W Smith & Wesson Sigma. But if you want to shoot with regularity and not break the bank, look for pistols (or rifles) chambered in .22LR.

Well, I'm looking more for a "toy"... something to replace my airsoft gun. I really don't plan to shoot much and don't really go for accucry either. I'll look into some other guns though.

You want a toy, buy a toy, you want a GUN, buy a gun!! Dont be fuckin' around using the word "toy". Its not going to be a toy when you kill someone. I have a Springfield Armory GI style 1911. Heres a pic.

Everybody shuts the fuck up and stops what there doing, when a shot gun cocks.:stare

By toy, I ment I don't have an intent for this gun. As is, I don't plan on using it for protection or at the range. More just to have fun with up north. I'm starting to think it's a waste for money for something I'd only use a handful of times.

If you want a "plinker" i.e. something to "play around with" (there is no such thing as "playing" with a gun but you know what I mean)...

GET A .22! There are SO MANY .22's and 22LR ammo is SO CHEAP. Hell if you want to go to the range, I'll gladly take you and we can shoot my .22 all day for like $20. Granted, I have a modded rifle, but if you want to try out a pistol, bring an extra $10 and rent one. There are tons of fun, reliable, accurate .22 pistols.

The Walther P22 comes to mind immediately. As does the Beretta Neos. Both can be had for under $400. I bought my Ruger 10/22 rifle for $250 NEW. They make a pistol vairant, called the Charger for the same price, which takes all the same mods as the rifle- 25+rd mags, scopes, aftermarket grips, whatever you want. Lol, if you ever want to hit an intended target do not buy this pos. No offense, but it is people with your mentality that give guns a bad name.

I highly doubt he "does not care to not hit the intended target" as in to recklessly discharge in the direction of people, animals, valuable property or whatever else is sacred (or maybe he does?), I think he is trying to say he is not necessarily looking for a target pistol per se. Rather a plinker or something with a perceived "fun" factor (to him). Get what you like, because as you say...you may only use it a few times. It can be hard to justify sinking a shitload of $$$ into something that you may not use everyday.

Beware, some stuff is more temperamental than others. Do research and try it beforehand if possible. Nothing worse than buying something and realizing it did not turn out to be what you imagined it to be. Me personally, I would not buy that particular piece in question, but that is my opinion.

Let me ask, if you are transitioning from airsoft stuff, what types of airsoft replicas did you have? Maybe that could point you in the direction of a design you are interested in. What is the budget?

Thats why i got the Parkerized one. A few of my friends dont like 1911s because of the 7+1 mag, but if you need more than 8 rounds of .45 ACP, you are doing something wrong.

No worries, i just think buying a gun because it looks cool and has a 50 rd magazine is a little out there. I suppose it would do the job from the sounds of what he is looking for. I would say start with something a little more common. Bretta, CZ , glock, XD... all available in the fairly cheap 9mm. If you want to plink on the cheap, .22 LR is the way to go. Ruger makes some nice, cheap .22 LR pistols. IMO the gun you posted is something a gang banger would buy out of a car.

I have a mpa 9mm, it has a little longer barrel. I got mine at shooters in racine. I think I paid 320 2 years ago. This one is hella accurate and reliable. Never one jam. I would trust my life with it. Very simple firearm. It is accurate one shot at a time but not so accurate when unloading the clip. If you want a toy this is a toy. Everyone that uses it loves it. On a bad day just take it out and unload, it is fun.

They are just O.K. if you want a cheap gun. The bottom line is they look cheap and feel cheap. I also find that they are fairly inaccurate.... possibly caused by heavy trigger pull :chair:. Shoot 50 rounds and your trigger finger will actually start to hurt.

With that being said, mine has been 100% reliable. It has never jammed on me no matter what kind of ammo. Still, it's not my first choice.

No.

They are similar to the glock 19.....but not exactly the same. No spring kits are available for the triggers. People have 'modified' theirs, but it decreases reliability.
