Looking for a basic in dash MP3 deck with Sirius satellite capability. Found this Premier head unit by Pioneer, whats the deal with Premier, is that their "better" line?

Also, whats with the bluetooth feature? I can make calls through the stereo?

dan if you want a good deck pick up an Alpine 9887, if it's more then you want to spend, the 9886 is basically the same thing with a couple less features, continue to shop around either of these 2 sites, they are generally cheaper then everyone else and both reliable

So when they say Satellite radio-ready, whaT ELse do I need besides the Sirius subscription to listen in the car? Anything extra or do I just tune to Octane on Sirius right on the head unit?

it will need the sattelite box and antenna which is usually a extra charge

What are your opinions of the Pioneer Premier units? I havent had the best luck with Alpine in the past.

I have always run a Pioneer Premier head unit in just about every car ive had (17) They have a ton of features, they have good displays with a lot of options to change them, they have alot of outputs for multiple amps, and are easy to install. They also have a better warranty than the regular premier brand, at least 2x as long. I have had a few other brands in winter cars, and definitely liked the premier units the best. One thing however, I would buy it from a local shop, a better deal on the internet doesn't always mean better deal if you need to have it worked on or if you have a problem with it.

Dan is kind of in the middle of nowhere - his best bet is probably to order it online.

I like the premier units, Dan. I, personally, have never had a deck go out on me (not saying it doesn't happen). So it's probably worth the risk and saving some money online.

I would just think about what you will really use in the car. Even if I had Bluetoothe in the Cobra - it would be useless because of how loud the car is. My acura has the Pioneer Z-3 with Bluetoothe, and even that is hard to use if it's raining or I'm on a highway.

Hey now, we have both electricity AND indoor plumbing up here now, its no longer the middle of nowhere, we're on the outskirts, although I did see 2 bear in my backyard last night. Maybe we still are.

Yeah, thh bluetooth thing in my car would be useless. I am mainly wanting the satellite radio and MP3 playback, though I was originally thinking CDs, I didnt know anything about USB capability and being able to load a flash drive up with songs and playing it in the car, thats just cool.

It looks like this is what else I would need for satellite?

Premier head units used to be some of the best on the market. They used to be in a higher end silver color though. They stood out more.

I had a Premier amp back in the day and it was top notch stuff.
