First off, an introduction, as this is my 1st post.

My name is Dan, and i live around st francis, and i have 2 cars:
1973 Triumph spitfire with a 2.3 ford turbo (balls out, scarey fast) -broken
2008 Caliber SRT-4 (daily, but prob. ganna give in to mods soon)

Working on a fairly custom setup (:headbang) involving a TD05h turbo, off what i believe to be a 1st gen eclipse/talon.

My question regaurding the turbo is what oil pressure should the turbo recieve at full rpm, and is there a min. oil psi?

im forced to make my own downpipe out of the turbo, b/c there isnt one that fits my application. Im making it out tubeing that on a tape measure measures around 1/16" thick. should i be worried about this melting? :confused

how far down, in the downpipe should i place my 02 bung/sensor? ASAP to turbo flange, correct?

Thanks!

Not sure if there is a min oil pressure, 40-60 should be fine. The turbo has an O2 housing doesn't it? Thats where the O2 sensor goes. If not get it as close to the exhaust wheel as possible. I think 16 gauge tubing is around 1/16" so you should be fine, what material is it?

Nice! My Dad had a Spitfire! That was the first car I worked on as a kid.

Hi Dan,

Which TD05h series would that be?

The general rule of thumb is to use a 3/16 steel line or -4 AN line to feed your turbo. On a typical engine, with typical oil pressures, that should feed your turbo properly.

When you say your forced to make your own down pipe, do you mean off of the cast iron elbow on the back of the turbo or do you me directly from the flange on turbine housing?

Wideband Sensors like to be placed downstream a bit. Like a foot or so. They can over heat and then err out.

Thanks for the replies guys, so your saying just hook er up to the motor, no regulator nothing?

Oh heres pics; but there of the old combo,...

the interior is more finished, and the hood scoops coming off b/c of new setup doesnt need the hood clearence.

Also fixed most of the wiring, and my int/ex mani's arent in the pics... this is before i blew it up.

basicly, old pictures :thumbsup

oh and for what kind of steel, idk mild steel? regular metal.

yes i mean directly what comes off the turbo, that bolts to the turbo.

also i was told before to regulate the oil psi to 17 i think im going to join a dsm forum or somthing. lol

also thanks for all the negative death-trap comments in advance :durr

IDK 'series' - im planning on using a narrow band 02 b/c with the carb i dont think it should fluctuate that drasticly once its close to dialed in, and i have access to a kit for next to nothing from my dad.

I've never heard of regulating the oil pressure, i think the turbo in my evo had a small opening in the oil feed port. I take it this slows things down enough. I have a turbocharger book at home i'll see what that says.

How does the Turbo feed the motor if it doesn't go through the carb?

Just watch the oil pressure you should be able to t-off of it to see what its at but i would think you would be fine.If you happen to blow it id switch to something ihi as there not as pissy about oil pressure. Then again not like your dealing with a dual ball bearing turbo.Which you should something in the gt30r range bitch will really move out then.

Heres a some pics of some parts i made for my triumph project...

Intake manifold, exhaust manifold, and turbo exhaust outlet flange.

Let me say the pics make these look like crap, :( they do look better in person.

The reason(s) i made my parts, instead of purchasing are;
The price of the exhaust mani i needed : 400
The price of the intake i needed: 200
No one made a turbo-outlet i needed (wrong direction)

I made all these parts for $250 total, and enough matterial left over for at least one more of each of them if neccessary. so i saved enough money to buy the rest of the parts i need to get it running proper again :D

HONEST OPINIONS please, good bad ugly, w/e i dont care LMK whatcha think.
The intake mani looks to 'flow bad' but the head on the car has ovaled ports, and accepts the air in at that angle. so its not a bad design.

I got a little bit of work left to do on all of them, but ya get the idea..

now for the pics:

first the intake minfold:

Turbo flange/exhaust outlet (made out of 8 peices of metal, i might add..)

Ya mines a little bigger project though...

Mines a whole lot faster when it is running, too...
i think you need to turbo that thing and run 30psi until it blows..

take this!!:whipi cant my seals are worn!!

Actually while I was diagnosing what was wrong with my ignition I gave my car a "compression test" and it sounds a lot stronger than I had thought it was. I'm thinking the nitrous is going on next spring.
