CEL on a 93 toyota pick up

is there a way to check the CEL on a toyota pick up (3.0) without using a scanner?

Download the service manual.
It's under "R.M. 1995::3vz-e Engine: Mfi System: Diagnosis System (4RUNNER)"
It's pretty straight forward. Count the blinking check engine light.

yes under the hood you have to short out two items in the pin connector,the above tells you which ones.
