View Full Version : Good Trans Shop In/Around Waukesha?

Not too long ago the reverse went out on my Typhoon and I was met with some rather unsettling, violent vibrations and metallic noise. It still drove fine in the forward gears, but I can't even shift into reverse or through it to get to park.
The truck has the 700R4. I'd like to not only get it fixed, but to get it built, too. I know the best bet would be to upgrade to a 4L80E, but I'm not sure how much I'm going to be able to afford at the moment.
Does anyone know of a reputable shop in the Waukesha area? I've tried to research on some, but for every person saying a shop is great there's another saying it's the worst place ever.
Any information would be greatly appreciated.

I had my trans built by a guy named Jesse who lives in Stallis and does it on the side. He's done work for several others here at BCM and came to me highly regarded.

Not waukesha, but Great Lakes Transmissions. They're right next to the VA hospital by Miller park. A friend owns the place and he's been building my transmissions for every car I've ever needed a trans for. Shoot me a pm if you'd like a number and contact info.

A bunch of people at work have used All World Transmissions on Lincoln in Waukesha. It's next to where Don Jacob's used to be at 59/Arcadian and 164.

Kilpatrick's. They did the trans in my Trans Am. 630rwhp. Held up to all the abuse that I threw at it, and it was a lot of abuse. They also did the trans in my Diesel 20 some thousand miles ago. I have the programmer set to kill and I have pulled 18,000lbs with not a single problem.

I don't know about the frustration, but you're more than welcome to send the $$$$ :D I get what you meant. I'll probably send you a PM after I get off work. Break is just about over.
Thanks for all the suggestions, guys. I was looking at Kilpatrick's, but wasn't sure. I had searched the name on here and saw one or two things that weren't exactly complimentary, but those were from a few years ago. I'll have to stop by or give them a call and see what they can do for me. I may check out some of the other places, too.
