tonight our water heater took a dump all over our floor. It was not coming from the release valve rather coming from the top of the heaters hot and cold inlets, and even from the covers on the sides. We Shut off the water and flipped the breaker after a little while it did stop leaking, do I need a new W/H?

Its junk, time to buy a new one. When ever water comes out around the inlet and outlet and the covers it means the tank has split. No repair for this, just replace.

I thought so.

Anyone up for an estimate? 50 gal electric.

Some like the base Kenmore model start at about $200, but better quality ones can be as high as $1500. Might be the right oportunity to try and research the possibility of a tankless water heater. More efficient and uses less energy.
