I got PC trouble. I can't get rid of the Mywebsearch search engine. I tried to follow the instructions on several sites but it confuses me. I want my Google back. I really don't want to haul this thing into the shop and have them do it.

1. First go to add/remove programs and remove Mywebsearch.
2. Download & run this: http://www.pchell.com/downloads/HijackThis.exe
After it's done scanning:
Tick any box that has the following similar entries & click "fix":

I will
Just make sure you update the libraries to the latest and greatest. It may want to finish the scan after a reboot as well if there are any processes locked.

I don't do much besides go on forums and look up stuff on the internet and pay bills. No gaming or a lot of music downloads.

ccleaner
And this
You have MyWebSearch installed on your computer and its time for it to be removed! Okay, lets get this off there. There is the manual way and the automated way. We will take the automated way because its fast and easy.
1.First download Malware bytes:
http://download.cnet.com/Malwarebytes-Anti-Malware/3000-8022_4-10804572.html?part=dl-10804572&subj=dl&tag=button
2.Then install Malware bytes, after its installed run updates.
3. Run a quick scan
4. Remove all infections
5. Reboot
6. Run a defrag and clean all temp files. I recommend using ccleaner and Defraggler.
www.ccleaner.com
www.defraggler.com
7. Reboot
8. That should be it.

try running those programs in safe mode?

Locate the mwsoemon.exe in your computer... Change the name to mwsoemon.exx and that should disable it. Some of these trash programs are near impossible to remove once they hit your pc but changing the extension will stop them from running and hijacking other programs.

Wikkid...tried that, doesn't show the mywebsearch.
Silver86...don't know what that is or how to find it.

That's probably what I'll have to do, I guess. I'd take it in and let the nerds have at it, but I am poor right now with going back to 26 hour work weeks.
