I need to have the a/c in my 1996 Lexus SC300 checked out.
the compressor doesn't seem to kick on, i bought a a/c recharge kit yesterday down in IL but the compressor doesn't kick on.

so does anyone on here have any experiance with doing a/c? or know of a place that does it for a good price?

thanks - Liz

Id check the main fuse box to make sure a relay ( small inch by inch black box ) is in there. If there is one in there swap it out with another one and see if it clicks on.

Try jumping a hot lead to the compressor to make sure the clutch is ok and if that is fine it still might be low. Also you can jump the low pressure switch!

My friend in East Troy does it at his house for $50/hr. Have worked on everything from classic muscle cars to late model euro and jap imports. GM mechanic by trade. PM me for more info.
