Alright so here's the deal. The womens 2006 trailblazer is kinda of talking a shit so we are looking for something else

Looking for something AWD or 4wd. Decent gas mileage. Under 25k. Under warrenty for the next 4-5 years. Decent power.

Looked at a Mitsubishi Lancer ralliart. Decent car. Nice power Roomy. 23k

was wondering can you tune a trailblazer to get better mpg? Reason I ask is because she will be driving to matc in downtown from Racine everyday for clinicals which gas money will be coming out of my pocket

Thanks

I could get you a New 4cyl 4x4 Escape for under $25k. They have a good amount of room and get 26 mpg or more on the Hwy.

LoL.

The 09 Escape's 4 cyl has 171hp which I think is not bad at all. Plus, your getting that kind of mpg in a SUV, so it's not bad at all. The 6 cyl gets you to 240hp and you only give up about 2 mpg.

You are looking for "decent power", but for what? Are you towing? Are you "racing a truck"? You can get plenty of great vehicles for your woman that will suit the needs of your woman.

What I find is that to be financially responsible you should separate a DD and a performance car. If you want both, you're going to pay big money and always have compromises.

I was in a spot last September. I had 2 Mustangs and one decent Winter car for the wife and a shit S10 for myself. I spent about 2 nights a week fixing the S10 in sub-zero weather just to make sure I could get to work. I ended up unloading the convertible and getting an Outback Wagon for the wife. We put 18K miles on the Outback in less than 1 year and we love it. It's under warranty for 7 years and it will probably last 20. It gets 28MPG, is all wheel drive, fits 4 adults and gear nicely, and can tow 3400lb. It has NO power.

talk to ls1 tom, he has the ability to reflash your trailblazer... not quite sure what mpg gains you would see though. best ask him.

I'd say go get a new AWD Vibe but fat chance finding one. They're pretty much all gone.

The Torrent was pretty awesome too and it's now the GMC Terrain. IIRC, the AWD version starts at $26k MSRP.

It's hard, especially for women, to go from a truck/SUV to a car.

Yeah, the thing is truly a great car. If you can get past the lack of pure power in the Summer, the thing is probably the best all around vehicle. My wife absolutely loves it and although it is not convertible, she still isn't sad about unloading the GT convertible and driving this. Once you realize how nice these things are, you kinda forget about the cars you don't have and just enjoy the convenience and functionality of the Subie.

My dad has owned I think 5 outbacks and just purchased a Forester, his 08 already has 23K on it :stare

He works for the railroad and drives from mil to butler down to chi town and to adams and jainsville all the time.

He loves them !!!

I will probably own one in the future no doubt about that :thumbsup

They are fantastic cars. If you don't like the 4x4 ride height you can either pick up a Legacy wagon or just throw the struts/springs from a Legacy in. You should also look at the Forester XT if you haven't.

I'm curious as to what is wrong with the trailblazer? The woman has an 03 envoy with 90k on it and all we've had to replace is the fan clutch and sway bar end links.

rear end it going, doesnt feel like going into 4wd sometimes. traction control light and "4wd maintenance" light come on just cruising down the highway. headlights flicker while driving for no reason.

those are just to name a few. hell if I try to fix a electrical issue and replace the rear / TC case.

so I rather go into a new vehicle lol

64,000

had he look at the outback "I dont like it, looks to much like a wagon" lol but yet it has EVERYTHING she wants in a vehicle ( decant gas mileage, moonroof, heated seats, awd, leather, auto, dual climate control, can carry all our outdoorsy stuff, roof rack etc )

she wants a awd car, heated seats, moonroof, that can fit a week worth of camping stuff, canoe, 2 bikes, and still get 45mpg and be under 25k lol

women I tell ya, women!

My girl has a 06 Torrent and absolutely loves it. Its the FWD but the traction controls helps out in winter after she learned how to use it :rolf. The gas mileage isn't that awful as long as you don't pound on it all the time. The thing has some great power though. It's comfy as well. Took the thing down to Florida this year and got the best gas mileage ever. Not to mention the amount of crap we could fit in it and still have room to stretch. We have even towed a 12ft tailor from Appleton and back, no problems at all! The thing has almost 50k on it and haven't had a major issue yet. Her father has the 08 AWD Equinox which actually gets better gas mileage than our Torrent. I don't think my girl would like to go from her SUV to a car, she had a grand am before and loved it when she got the Torrent(if you can't tell by the miles). Damn thing had 20k on it last spring.

I wouldn't exclude the smaller SUVs in your search, there are some nice ones out there!!! Good luck!

You can get a 2010 Impreza 2.5 base with some decent options for that much. Decently fun to drive, decent mpg, still has the utility, AWD etc etc.

so, looks like we are picking up a 2010 Subaru Outback 2.5i Premium in white. all weather package ( heated seats, mirrors and wipers ) and sunroof

those thing drive NICE, has decent pick up for 170hp.

domokun

so we just brought home a 2010 subaru outback premium ( we got 32mpg on the way home )

sticker = 28,832
negotiate price = 26,400

trade in

2006 Trailblazer with 65k miles

their offer = 9500
my none negotiable offer = 10,500 ( 11,500 owed on the truck, not bad for a GM truck to only be 1k upside down )

this lady busted her ASS to get us in that car

so we paid 28,600 out the door WITH 5yr / 100k mile extended warrenty and tax, title, license )

not to bad, when the sticker was 28,832
