John Hughes is most repsonsible for making nerds cool. His genre of movies I think gave alot of kids during that time who weren't the jocks/cheerleader types the fantasy and moxie to be themselves. And if you think now how essentially every social group is now not only into the things only nerds were (video games, super hereos, tech) he was probably alot more ifluential then he'll ever really be given credit for.

Personally Weird Science was my favorite. I'm not sure if there's ever been a hotter chic in a movie then Kelly LaBrock was in that movie. And Bill Paxton was awesome as Chet.
