Somewhat of a hard question.

It can be a race car, road car, prototype, factory, modded, single show car, etc.

Please post a pic and the reason you think so.

For me its the 62-64 Ferrari 250 GTO. The 250 GTO won the World Manufacturer's Championship in 1962, 1963, and 1964. And to me is one of the best looking cars of all time, to me.

I say the Ford GT 40. Ford set out to beat Ferrari and he did, hands down and on more than one occasion.

If I remember correctly, Ford was going to buy Ferrari in the mid 60's and at the last minute the deal was stricken by Ferrari. The beat down was Ford's payback.

I would have to say a 1969 L88 Vette or a 1967 L88 Vette. They were Chevy's race cars back when they didn't really want to be associated with racing hence why they made very few of them.

this car with just a change of tires and a tune. will go

I vote the Evo.

It does everything pretty well and is within reach for almost everyone. Handles and brakes like a race car and goes through 8" of snow with no problem, lets see your GT-40 do that! Flame away:banana1:

I'm posting from my phone so I can't post a pic... but my vote (even though I'm not a Ford guy) would go to the 64 1/2 Mustang. It started the entire Muscle Car Era and a lot of the hi-po cars nowadays might not be around if the Mustang never came to be. And besides, where would the Mustang and Camaro rivalry be?

1973-1974 Porsche 917/30 Turbo LeMans car.

1600HP twin-turbo 5.3L V12 at 39psi in an 1800# car. Power-to-weight ratio of 1967HP/Ton. ~295HP per Liter.

0-60mph in 1.9 seconds.
0-100mph in 3.9 seconds.
0-200mph in 10.9 seconds.
Top speed of 260+mph.

This car was THE car that made and killed Can Am racing, as it was the fastest, craziest, most dangerous, and most winning Porsche in this class.

It may not be the greatest of all time, but that is almost impossible to say which specific vehicle should hold this title. I would feel that the first mass-production vehicle should be noted with this title, as it is what changed the world as we know it.

This question is so full of fail I don't know where to start. But I'd say it's a tie between the Model T and the Volkswagon Beetle. I'd bet those two cars combined put more people on the road than any other five cars on the road. Before you can want to drive fast, you first have to drive.

Dave it's a tough call between the 250 and 288 for me -

But - I'll go with the D50

If I had to chose a newer car - It would be the 430 spyder with the scuderia package  (499 made) or the 512M

I don't think I can answer without a doubt what the best car of all time is. I think every car mentioned so far has it's rightful place in automotive history.

My vote would be the Nissan GTR. calling me a fanboy of this car is an understatement and also not insulting. This car defies the natural laws of physics like no other car before it. If Issac Newton were alive today he'd have to rethink his theories just because of this car. Some people say the car is soulless, but credit must be given to the engineering feats of the team that created this car. In a way it's the perfect super car. It turns the owner into a far better driver then they probably ever would be. Just my take.

The original "mini"

http://www.malaysiaminilover.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/01/mini-cooper-mk7_2.jpg

Hard to believe, but it's basic design was for it's time, very innovative; a two box layout that maximized the passenger compartment for a given size of the car. While the mini is one of the highest single model produced of all-time, many many many other cars were sold imitating it's basic shape...perhaps making it the most copied car of all time.

The basic mini, like the original beetle, was produced continuously for a very long time...it was in production in the same basic shape from 1959-2000.

And of course, not only did it reinvent basic transportation...but it also reinvented small car performance as well. Go to vintage car races and watch those little buggers scoot around the track...an economy car that was a blast to drive? Perhaps the first.

I'd say the Lambo Countach. It was the poster car of the 70's and 80's and really gave definition to the supercars that were to follow. It was just so exotic, and sexy, and ridiculous.

I'm going with the Ford F150 or VW Beetle (original).

My reasoning is that they are two of the best selling cars...ever. I'd guess that more than 99% of the people in the world have been influenced by either of these cars.

300hp in the 1920's, supercharged before most cars had automatics, more comfortable than most of your daily drivers built today:

The Duesenberg, if I have to explain why you will never understand. 100mph when a Caddy or Lincoln did 50.
